Letters to VOICE

Jan 19, 1998
I'm writing to say a big THANKS!! for the Adaptec tip (undocumented /DBUFF parameter) in the January Voice newsletter. I've been struggling for months, trying to tune my Pentium 60 system with 48 Mb RAM ... feeling that something was wrong, but having no idea what. The /DBUFF paramater has made a dramatic difference to the speed and usability of the sytesm. (That should be no surprise, since it seems that I'm going from effectively 16MB to 48MB.)

I'm thrilled ... but now starting to wonder why the parameter is undocumented and why the OS/2 install doesn't use this when creating the config.sys. Any idea why??

Thanks,
Scott Gordon

Thanks for your THOROUGH, INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL (i.e., for making a decision about purchase) review of Smart Suite for OS/2 Beta.

Sincerely,

I have read your article in the VOICE newsletter with great interest. Not least because I recently got a Stylus 1520 and got to Hobbes for the driver just too late!!

I am well satisfied with the 1520 in windows, but less than satisfied in OS/2 - using the OMNI driver.

If you could let me have a copy of the Epson drivers (preferably the latest 1.020), I should be most grateful. I did email Epson Uk, but got no response.

regards,

PatD
