I've just had Word 97 running on my OS/2 Desktop!
However I was running the Citrix Java ICA client and was connected to a Windows
2000 Terminal Server running Citrix Metaframe 1.8 and it was on this that Word was
really running. It did look pretty cool though, Word 97 seamless on Warp 3.

Andreas Linde andreas.linde@os2.org
reported today (February 15, 2000) that the final version of FixPak #13 for Warp
4, which also will be used in the upcoming update for OS/2, will be extented to
be able to address the same amount of RAM that Aurora can: 3GB. He further comments
that, "with this feature Project Odin will be able to start Microsoft Office
programs under OS/2."
This is to announce the availability of MIDI Station Sequencer Preview Edition
Build 4. This version includes some significant bug fixes such as:
- Fixed message capturing with Step Recording module
- Fixed bug with incoming MIDI message while recording audio
- Fixed time bug in quantize module
- Fixed bug where Program change messages weren't being sent with certain MIDI files
- Added function callback for filtering incoming MIDI messages
- Fixed bug with endless loop function
- Fixed timing bug with MIDI metronome
The final edition was scheduled to be released yesterday February 14th. But given
the fact that now there are real testers using the product and the above issues
were identified I've decided to wait a week to give the testers time to use this
version of the code.
As always MIDI Station Sequencer is available at:
http://www.dinosoft.it/~midistation/index.html
For those of you who don't know what MIDI Station Sequencer is: Its a full-featured
MIDI/Audio Sequencer available for the OS/2 platform and uses the RTMIDI (RealTime)
MIDI Subsystem available in Warp 4.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions/issues regarding the program
or using the MPU-401 driver with your sound card.

OS2.org setup a new survey: "What do you think about the announced OS/2
Warp 4 update?"
The announcement of an update for OS/2 Warp 4 led to some agitation. There should
be a lot of features from the last year released OS/2 Warp Server for e-business,
resulting in a client meeting with today's technical requirements. As far as OS2.org
knows the update will be available in Q2/2000 and would be distributed via Software
Choice.
If you want to see the results and lots of comments of our last survey, then
please also check out the survey archive page at OS2.org.
Editors note: at the time of this IBM has not announced any OS/2 Warp 4 update

You can download SciTech Display Doctor 7.0 for OS/2 BETA 19 from our ftp site
using the following URL:
ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/sdd/beta/os2/sdd-os2-7.0.0-b19.exe
What is SciTech Display Doctor for OS/2?
SciTech Display Doctor for OS/2 brings SciTech's proven DOS and Windows device
support technologies to the OS/2 Operating System. Although one of the core features
of our DOS and Windows products is the support for the VESA VBE/Core standard, the
OS/2 version has nothing at all to do with VESA services. Rather SciTech Display
Doctor for OS/2 incorporates the new SciTech Nucleus, Graphics Architecture device
driver technology to bring SciTech's device support to the OS/2 platform.
SciTech Nucleus is a binary portable, OS neutral, device driver architecture.
As binary portable drivers, SciTech can fully develop and test the core device drivers
in the DOS and Windows environments, while being able to target any Intel x86 based
OS as the runtime environment (such as OS/2). This essentially allows the OS/2 product
to utilise the same SciTech binary device drivers as the DOS and Windows versions
of the product, improving the quality and performance of the drivers for all supported
operating systems. Runtime Requirements
SciTech Display Doctor for OS/2 requires a version of OS/2 Warp 3 or OS/2 Warp
4 in order to run. More imporantly, it requires at least Warp 3 with fixpack 35,
or Warp 4 with fixpack 5 installed. If you have a version with earlier fixpacks
installed, SciTech Display Doctor will refuse to install.
List of all supported chips:
This is a complete list of the various graphics cards that this version of SciTech
Display Doctor supports. Please note that this list refers to the actual chips being
used, not a board-level implementation. Thus you will not see any products from
Hercules or STB on the list, but their products are supported because they use S3,
Cirrus, Tseng, etc. chips. Also, any card with less than 512KB of memory cannot
be supported by SciTech Display Doctor.

all chipsets supported in our prior Windows and DOS products, please visit our web
site. We are currently in the process of moving all our existing device support
code to our new SciTech Nucleus device driver architecture. The above list only
lists those drivers that have been converted, and we won't be supporting any chipsets
not on the list until those drivers are properly converted.
