We have released the final version of FT2LIB which is 2.40 Release 1. This
version does not contain any timebomb and comes with a lot of improvements
and bugfixes. It should be the most reliable version ever.

(The release date April 1st is not intended to refer to April Fool's Day
in any way.)

SW: 20040330 kernels on IBM Testcase FTP site

30 Mar 2004 20:23:13 -0500

From: "Mark Dodel"

Yet another new set of kernels for OS/2 on IBM's Testcase FTP server
today. Download from < ftp://testcase.boulder.ibm.com/ps/fromibm/os2/ >

From the Readme:

"This contains fixes since xr_e002/xr_m015/mcp/acp. Important note: If you
use the OS/2 SES facility, you need a new sesdd32.sys dated April 2001 or
later to use this kernel. Also, a matching dump formatter (df_ret.exe),
provided separately, is required, if you want to analyze a dump from this
kernel. Finally, note that os2ldr is only required for the >64mb memory
detection mentioned below."

As always these are not officially supported by IBM unless they tell you
to use them.

**** Please send any followup to comp.os.os2.bugs on usenet. ****

Also note that files are only on IBM's testcase for 2-3 days, so if you
want to try these get them now. Make certain you back up any files
replaced and don't try these on a production system. Read any readme file
before applying any changes. If your system is working well, and you have
no problems addressed by these updates, do yourself a favour and don't
mess with this. You have been warned.

The UNI and SMP files are for WSeB/ACP/eCS Pro (SMP kernel) and the W4
files are for post FP15/MCP versions, including eComStation. Only use the
SMP kernel on a machine with more then one CPU.]

From the readme file:

Fixes to problems that exist in released code:

20040330 14.098b
PJ29712 (os2ldr) final fix for boot blob hang on fast
(around 3+ gHz) CPUs
- backed out some kernel stuff that accidentally got built

SW: Updating of Mozilla for OS/2 1.7b

26 Mar 2004 12:14:48 -0500

Forwarded message from Michael Kaply on Fri, 26 Mar 2004 16:26:22 UTC

I'm updating 1.7b today because the issues have been so major.

[Moderator note: The Warpzilla site < http://www.mozilla.org/ports/os2/ >
hasn't been updated yet but the mozilla-os2-1.7b.zip file has been updated
with files dated 03/25/2004

Installer version:
< http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.7b/contrib/mozilla-os2-1.7b-installer.exe >

Zipped version:
< http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.7b/contrib/mozilla-os2-1.7b.zip >

Please direct questions and comments to
]

Here are the fixed problems:

1. Crash on startup
2. Ability to install over 1.4.2
3. Corruption when incorrect locale is used
4. Unable to create profiles or save files with double byte characters

Obviously if none of these problems concern you, you don't need the
update.

Sorry for the hassle.

Event: Warpstock 2004 - The Mile High event

26 Mar 2004 09:14:20 -0500

From: "Mark Dodel"

Warpstock 2004 -- This is the announcement you have been waiting for. Get
out your calendar and mark it so you can make plans to attend this
educational/2 event. The Warpstock Board of Directors is very excited to
announce that Warpstock 2004, the eighth edition of the annual Warpstock
event, will be held in Denver, Colorado, October 21st thru 24th, 2004.

There are some terrific changes in store for attendees to make Warpstock a
truly educational/2 event. The details have yet to be finalized, but the
Denver Team is proposing to make Warpstock 2004 a four day event. The
extra two days will include some in-depth classes (possibly at extra cost)
on specific subjects with the traditional presentations on these days as
well as on the traditional weekend event. Although we encourage people to
attend all four days, a registration fee structure will allow you to
select how many days you will attend. We also want you to know the Denver
Team has planned 3 Different Evenings for us to get together after hours
and get out of the hotel for a taste of the Rockies.

We will have much more information about the Denver area on the web site
at < http://www.warpstock.org > soon. The web site is being overhauled by
our new web master, Robert Kuropkat. So please bear with us during this
transition period. You can check the web site regularly for updates on
Warpstock 2004.

Denver is known as the Mile High City because of its location on the high
plains at the eastern base of the Rocky Mountains in the Central United
States. It's serviced by Denver International Airport, which is one of the
worlds largest airports and a major airline hub. Besides the Rocky
Mountains, Denver offers such attractions as the Denver Zoo, the Denver
Mint, the Coors Brewery, the Butterfly Pavilion And Insect Center, Buffalo
Bill Museum And Grave, as well as many other cultural, art and
entertainment facilities.

The final hotel contract and arrangements are still pending. When these
are finalized, we will announce specific room costs, reservation
instructions and location information. We just wanted to let people know
the "where" and "when" so they can begin to make plans to attend the
OS/2-eComStation event of the year. Some airlines are currently offering
$160 or less round trip airfares right now, and with oil prices rising,
that may be a real bargain later this year. The dates and location for the
event are set and will not change.

Have you been to Warpstock yet?

* Warpstock 1997 - Diamond Bar, California
* Warpstock 1998 - Chicago, Illinois
* Warpstock 1999 - Atlanta, Georgia

* Warpstock 2002 - Austin, Texas
* Warpstock 2003 - San Francisco, California
* Warpstock 2004 - Denver, Colorado

Warpstock, Inc., is a North Carolina corporation. The Warpstock annual
conference is a gathering of OS/2 users, developers, and vendors from
