DragText Beta Available
The next version of DragText is now available for testing from:
http://e-vertise.com/dragtext/drgtxth2.zip
This is a time-limited version that will expire at the end of August,
2003. Because of this, please do *not* post it to hobbes or other sites.
All features are fully enabled and no registration is required.
Enhancements
------------
OverDrag - This versatile set of drag and drop features can now
be extended to support any program's native d&d by entering
the program's name in DT's Options notebook. You'll be able
to open folders, scroll, rearrange, and minimize windows,
expand branches in Tree view, and more, all while you drag.
NewView - Thanks to the author of this popular replacement for
OS/2's help viewer, you can now drag text and access WPS
objects from its help panels. This feature requires
NewView v2.3.1 or later.
'Create another' Menus - Whenever you use DT to popup a WPS menu,
you can now select any item on its 'Create another' submenu.
This is especially handy when used with the standard 'Save as'
file dialog to create a new folder prior to saving a file.
Multiple File Drops - This version permits you to insert the
names of any number of files into a window in a single drop.
Prior versions required you to do so one at a time.
Bugs Fixed
----------
DragText - An attempt in v3.7 to fix a memory leak when dragging
more than 255 characters of text resulted in a more serious
memory leak elsewhere. This version should be leak-free.
Note: If you currently use DT, do NOT uninstall it. Instead, have it
loaded as usual so DT's setup program can transfer your settings to the
new version. Also, be sure to install v3.H2 in a *new* directory in case
you need to restore your current version (just run the copy of DTSetup in
that version's directory and it's back).
New Universal Audio Driver on Hobbes
New Free release of the Universal Audio Driver now on Hobbes at
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/uniaudio_104b_binaries.zip
Based on the ALSA Project http://www.alsa-project.org/, this is a free
binary release of the OS/2 driver (2002-10-31). The source code is
provided under the GNU GPL and may be found at Innotek's web site, a
non-free binary release is available to IBM's Software Choice customers.
This release is neither supported by Innotek nor by IBM! The driver
supports Sound Blaster Live!, Cirrus Logic CS4281 chipset based audio
cards, Avance Logic ALS4000 chipset based audio cards, C-Media CMI8738
chipset based audio cards and Intel ICHx + SigmaTel STAC9721/23 chipset
based audio cards. In addition to that this version will work on nVidia
and VIA AC'97 hosts. Tested codecs are Avance Logic ALC650 and C-Media
9738. Others *MAY* be usable as well, but no guarantee !!!
Driver works fine on my MSI KT3 Ultra Motherboard (Via 8233 & ALC-650
chipsets) with MMOS/2, Z! & Warpvision.
