eBayWatch/2 ver 1.09j
Hello All,
eBayWatch/2 is an auction management tool for OS/2 users. It works solely
with the eBay auction site. It is meant to aid the user in searching for,
monitoring and bidding on auction items. eBayWatch/2 is copyright
freeware.
Required -
1) partition with long filename support (hpfs/jfs)
2) rexxutil.dll and rxsock.dll in libpath
3) must start from its work directory, or a program object which sets the
work directory
I have uploaded ver 1.09j to - http://www.eclipse.net/~knkrchnr
This is a change for eBay changes that result in garbage in the "Seller"
field, and the failure to update the "Bid Items" page when refreshing.
As always, if you find anything strange or broken, please let me know.
Thanks,
Ken
InnoTek Font Engine for OS/2
URL: http://www.innotek.de/products/ft2lib/ft2libgeneral_e.html
The InnoTek Font Engine for OS/2 (powered by Freetype 2) is a port of the
Freetype 2 font engine to the OS/2 Warp platform which provides a tight
integration with the OS/2 graphics subsystem. It is designed to be able to
replace the OS/2 font rendering subsystem for selected (tested)
applications.
The benefits of the Freetype library compared to the default OS/2 font
engine can be summarized as follows:
* greatly improved font rendering quality for both TrueType and Adobe
Type 1 outline fonts
* 8-bit (256 color) anti-aliasing for smoother font display
* better support for displaying Unicode font data
* more accurate character spacing
* enhanced APIs going beyond the capabilities of the OS/2 graphics
subsystem (such as glyph outline query support)
Currently, InnoTek supports the use of the InnoTek Font Engine for OS/2
with the Mozilla and IBM Web Browser for OS/2 products. The font rendering
quality improvements achieved by using InnoTek's font engine with the
Mozilla are so remarkable that every user will immediately enjoy the
benefits of using the product.

CADH: A great Ctrl-Alt-Del handler by V. Kannegieser
"Process Commander" and some similar process-manipulators are not working
so well with the later versions of OS/2 and eCS, so I was really happy to
discover that Veit Kannegieser's utility CADH is working like a charm. I
have tested it with eCS 1.1, and so far it has handled with grace all the
(few) mishaps I have experienced. This tiny little program is now also
available as WPI package, so it's installed in a matter of seconds and a
reboot.
It's available at Hobbes, right now at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/cadh.zip. Thanks to Veit K. for this
gem!

C-Media 8738 PCI sound card under OS/2
In the United States, if you have a local OfficeMax store, they currently
have a 4 Channel sound card for free after $15.00 instant savings +$15.00
mail-in rebate. This is a Mad Dog Multimedia Prowler 4.1 DSP 4 channel
PCI sound card http://www.mdmm.com. This card has a C-Media 8738
chipset which is supported by a driver on hobbes - http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/system/drivers/sound/cmedia019.zip
The same deal is also on their website - http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/prodBlock.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&expansionOID=-536879914&prodBlockOID=537079875 Though you would have to pay shipping unless your total order is $50 or
more and you are in an area serviced by them. I don't think they will
ship outside the US, but can't find that specified on their website.
This chipset is also supported by the UniAud driver, (a free version is
available on hobbes). I have tried it under eCS 1.03 with the cmedia019
driver and it works fine at least for system sounds. I can't remove
Digital Audio from the installed builtin Crystal chipset and assign it to
the C-Media card via Multimedia Setup notebook. So I haven't been able to
check the sound quality playing waves with z!, but the price is certainly
worth the effort of trying.
