LIST OF CHANGES

Version 1.64
Fixed error in verifying a POP login.
You can now specify how many threads will handle outbound mail (range 1..99, although too high a value will probably cause "out of memory" problems).
Added option of a log file (SMTPOUT.LOG) for outgoing mail.
Updated LoadINI and DumpINI to handle options that have been added in recent changes.
Fixed: recipient list passed to a filter could contain remote addresses resulting from an alias expansion.

Streaming LPR Port Driver for OS/2

IBM has released a new LPR driver for OS/2 at the Device Driver Pak for OS/2. You will need Software Choice to access it though.

This is the link

http://www7.software.ibm.com/2bcprod.nsf/4eddaa42e99c19e186256a700058020a/4aa28e81f2ff3c3187256b20006208dd?OpenDocument#swc

The following is a listing for it.

Streaming LPR Port Driver for OS/2
IBM Special Edition
General Availability Release GM2
Updated 05/28/2003

Overview

Streaming Line PRinter (SLPR) is a streaming port driver (SLPR.PDR) used to connect your computer to a printer or print server via a TCP/IP connection. The driver uses Line Printer Daemon (LPD) protocol as specified in RFC 1179. This protocol is an almost universal way to send print data to printers and servers. It is meant to be used as a alternative to the \PIPE\LPD0 (henceforth LPD0) port driver which is shipped with OS/2.

Features

Features

- Faster Thruput: Data can be sent to the printer almost as soon as it is generated as compared to the LPD0 driver which needs to wait until all the printer job is generated before it is sent.
- Simpler Setup: The LPD0 driver requires a separate program (LPD.EXE) be up and running before it will work. Since the LPD program is communicating with the printer directly it has the status - not the spooler.
- Better Error Handling: With LPD0 any problems are reported via LPD program and not the spooler. With SLPR there is a direct interaction with the spooler so error recovery is more intelligent.
- User Specified Time-outs: With LPD the default is to wait indefinitely so out of paper or printer jams are not noticed for a long time. With SLPR any waits longer than the user specified time-out generates an easy to see pop-up notification.
- More Ports: SLPR can have up to 64.

Gotcha! 1.75 out now!

Gotcha! is a (not so small anymore :-) utility for OS/2 which allows to easily capture windows, window interiors, parts of the screen or the whole desktop and save them to disk or clipboard as a picture.

In v1.73 the Multimedia library has been linked in a way that it was automatically loaded when Gotcha! started and Gotcha! therefore would not run on systems without MMIO. This has been fixed in v1.75.

Gotcha! is free software under the GPL.

Migrating from Warp 4 to MCP 2

During some testing I have been doing for eComStation I have been wondering why you need to install MCP 1 first and THEN MCP 2 if you want to migrate your Warp 4 installation. Where is the difference between MCP 1 and MCP 2 installer. As far as I could tell NONE! I did the test. I installed a Warp 4 (fresh installation) and started with MCP 2 refresh. It did not work.

So what is it checking on that its stopping during installation ? Just copy from an MCP 1 system the \\os2\\install\\syslevel.os2 file. Copy this in your Warp 4 system in \\os2\\install and overwrite the Warp 4 version. I was able to painlessly migration from.

Please note, you use this advise on your own risk. Always make a backup before doing these kind of experiments.

Let me know how it works for you.
