The 1998 show in Chicago was the 1st Warpstock Event that V.O.I.C.E. was involved
in (as a group) and, frankly, we all had a blast. To show our support for this premier
event, V.O.I.C.E. arranged for show discounts on Power Boot, the Boot Manager alternative,
and we gave away 2 passes and 1 night in the hotel in a drawing held in a V.O.I.C.E.
meeting in IRC.
This year, we are taking steps to further involve V.O.I.C.E. as an active supporter
of Warpstock.
The Event Location announcement was made during a special V.O.I.C.E. Speakup
in IRC back in March.
V.O.I.C.E. has already purchased an exhibition booth that comes with 2 passes,
and 2 tickets to the Saturday evening Social Event "OS/2 Has Not Left The Building".
One of these passes and party tickets will be given away in a drawing, along with
1 night in the Sheraton Gateway hotel during a special Speakup event to be held
in July (You must be a V.O.I.C.E. member to be eligible for the drawing). The second
pass and party ticket is reserved for another project.
Thanks to Timothy Sipples and IBM, V.O.I.C.E. will donate 1 copy of OS/2 Warp
Server for e-Business to Warpstock to be used by the event committee in setting
up the Warpstock Network Server at this and future Warpstock events.
V.O.I.C.E. has already announced a donation of $500.00 to Warpstock to be used
for the Saturday evening party. It is our hope that this donation will help to offset
the costs of the party and dinner, and free up funds that the Warpstock committee
can put to use elsewhere in the event budget.
Now, here's where someone else can join with V.O.I.C.E. and show their support
for Warpstock.
We'd like to see at least one more group donate $500.00 to Warpstock to be used
for the Saturday evening party. That would make a $1000.00 donation to help offset
the cost of the social event, and free up $1000.00 to be used elsewhere in the Warpstock
99 Budget. Think of what that $1000.00 could be used for. Off the top of my head,
I can envision a better and faster connection to the Internet for all exhibitors
to make use of.
Please, join V.O.I.C.E. in co-sponsoring this event.

Anyone in attendance last year, in Chicago, can attest to how much fun we all
had. Anyone who missed it, well all I can say is "Don't miss this one"!
"I was constantly amazed at the number of very, very intelligent people
who are OS/2 users. All of them were friendly and open-minded, too." --- Tom
