lSwtcher V2.7 beta 1 available
The first beta of the new version of lSwitcher is available for download
at http://www.ece.msstate.edu/~avl1/lSwitcher/lsw270b1.zip . Please note
that this is a very early beta with some problems (although I tried to
make it stable enough for using) and incompletely implemented features.
See the file WHATSNEW.TXT for the list of new features that may not be
obvious, see KNOWNPROBLEMS.TXT for the list of problems that I am aware
of. For other problems that you may notice or suggestions please post here
or email me.
"This utility is a feature-rich replacement for the OS/2 PM Alt-Tab
switcher and includes a task switcher that works in full screen sessions.
The program can also be used with the Ctrl-Tab hot key combination.
Beginning from version 2.6 lSwitcher incorporates a convenient task bar.
Beginning from version 2.6 lSwitcher also exists in the form of widget for
XWorkplace WPS enhancer by Ulrich Möller. Functionality of both the
standalone application and the widget are very similar."

New add-ons for DrDialog on Hobbes!
Folks,
Just to let you know in case you don't follow the hobbes uploads: Chris
Wohlgemuth has just released a new set of DrDialog "extensions". You might
give it a try (I didn't yet, but surely will).
Download: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/drdialog-controls-0_1_4.zip
Search: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=drdialog-controls-0_1_4.zip
Here's what the hobbes info says:
"This Rexx DLL contains new controls for use with DrDialog. Available are
a percent bar, fly overhelp control, an image control which displays any
image file supported by OS/2 and a directory picker. Some functions are
included to set the parent<->child relationship of dialogs. BSD license,
includes source."
...sounds good, right? Especially that image part! ;)
Cheers

20030822 kernels released on Testcase
This is a fixpack candidate build. Fixed problems include yet another
theseus/4 trap and backing out the regression that caused problems with
doing "DIR" on remote drives with non-US filenames.
[Moderator's note:
Download from ftp://testcase.boulder.ibm.com/ps/fromibm/os2/
"This contains fixes since xr_e002/xr_m015/mcp/acp. Important note: If you
use the OS/2 SES facility, you need a new sesdd32.sys dated April 2001 or
later to use this kernel. Also, a matching dump formatter (df_ret.exe),
provided separately, is required, if you want to analyze a dump from this
kernel. Finally, note that os2ldr is only required for the >64mb memory
detection mentioned below."
As always these are not officially supported by IBM unless they tell you
to use them.
**** Please send any followup to comp.os.os2.bugs on usenet. ****
Also note that files are only on IBM's testcase for 2-3 days, so if you
want to try these get them now. Make certain you back up any files
replaced and don't try these on a production system. Read any readme file
before applying any changes. If your system is working well, and you have
no problems addressed by these updates, do yourself a favour and don't
mess with this. You have been warned.
The UNI and SMP files are for WSeB/ACP/eCS Pro (SMP kernel) and the W4
files are for post FP15/MCP versions, including eComStation. Only use the
SMP kernel on a machine with more then one CPU.
Here are the latest changes in this version, as posted in the readme file.
(See the Readme for a complete listing):
Fixes to problems that exist in released code:
20030822 14/096
PJ29349 Trap in ThePD_Get (another theseus/4 trap)
PJ28318 problems accessing non-US filenames (regression due to PJ29234)
(related fix to cmd.exe to back out bogus changes will be
available in next fixpack)]

HB Object Inspector 0.5.0c released
Today HB Object Inspector 0.5.0c was released.
HB Object Inspector is free clone of Object Inspector, one of the most
appreciated parts of Stardock's Object Desktop.
NOTE: Although the GUI of the program looks very similar to Stardock's
Object Inspector, they do not have a single line of code in common. This
is a completely new implementation.
Which features does HB Object Inspector currently have?
- It can create WarpIN WPI packages from desktop folders!!! (note,
however that only
the desktop structure is stored and not the associated files!)
- It can create REXX scripts from desktop folders!!!
- It is possible to manipulate certain object settings.
This software is released in the hope that is useful under the General
Public License.
VX-REXX source is included.

Security/2 updated to Alpha 0.1.5
Better UNIX then UNIX.
Security/2 is a multi-user system for OS/2. It provides controlled access
to files, drives, drivers and other OS/2 stuff, based on access control
list for each user.
Structure.
Security/2 has modular structure, can be easily (I hope ;)) extended and
provides an API for developers to enable their applications be multi-user.
Using Security/2.
Most of the Security/2 utilities are open sourced, that provides
additional help for developers.
