Mozilla 1.2b for OS/2 is available
The OS/2 version is available as a Full Installer .exe
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2b/mozilla-os2-1.2b-installer.exe
and a Zipfile
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2b/mozilla-os2-1.2b.zip
More info is at

Although MOZILLA_HOME support is not in the installer yet, it still has
been updated quite a bit. It now has an uninstaller and can detect if
Mozilla is running and close it. It also creates a proper mail icon if you
install mail, and I changed the object IDs back to the previous version,
as well as adding an object ID for the folder.
I do not recommend installing over an old Mozilla, although theoretically
it should work :). Future versions will support this fully.
The installer file is now the only way I am going to provide the ability
to create icons.
The ZIP file is not the preferred way to install, so consistent with
other platforms, it will not contain any install stuff, nor will it have
one big XPT file to help startup time.
The zip file is really designed for when people need to grab a build
quickly just to check something.
l will look at the possibility of having an easy way to recreate icons for
the future.
Enjoy!
Mike Kaply
P.S. If you are looking for Phoenix 0.3, I finished it but haven't been
able to put it in the right place. Keep checking:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/phoenix/releases/0.3
It should get there eventually.

IBM has released updated ibmatapi.flt (10.085) and ibmidecd.flt (10.085)
Previously IDE CD-ROM (also CD-R, CD-RW, DVD) devices weres handled by
IBMIDECD.FLT and all other ATAPI devices (like LS-120 and ZIP) were
handled by IBMATAPI.FLT. Now all ATAPI devices are handled by single
driver IBMATAPI.FLT. For backward compatibility this package provides both
IBMIDECD.FLT and IBMATAPI.FLT. In fact, this is the same driver and if
both drivers are in config.sys only the first one in the config.sys will
be loaded. It is recommended to use only IBMATAPI.FLT and remove
IBMIDECD.FLT from config.sys.
JJSCDROM - Modified OS/2 CD-ROM / CD-RW / DVDs device manager driver
This is a modified version of OS/2 CD-ROM / CD-RW / DVDs device manager
driver (OS2CDROM.DMD), based on the latest OS/2 DDK on-line source code
(DDK_020517).
This driver supports:
- Automatic SCSI-3/MMC-complient drive capability recognition by default,
like as ATAPI drive.
- "CD-Extra" (audio-CD w/additional data session) mounting.
- Feature enabling on a per-unit-basis. These features are:
= turn on "CD-DA readable", "CD-XA readable" and
"multisessioning-aware"
flags
= set vendor-specific SCSI CD-DA digital reading / CD-XA reading /
multisessioning methods for non-SCSI-3/MMC-complient drives -
"WORM-devices as CD-ROM" treatment for some old WORM-style CD-R drives.
-
Per-unit-basis "ignore drive" feature.
- Enriched /V option output.
- Additional IOCtl functions that control multisessioning treatment and
track 1 negative start LBA fix (Midbar CDS-200 spoiler).
- Of course functionally equivalent to official OS2CDROM.DMD, including
CD-RW / DVDs writing and formatting, and USB connection support.

New Multimedia NEPTUNE Project !
I am planning to completely finish my new multimedia project named NEPTUNE
at the beginning of December 2002 (maybe January 2003). This extremely
large project that originated in January 2001 is now fully optimized for
the OS/2 operating system. Today, NEPTUNE contains more than 600 MB of
data, so it massively beats the current INF file MIKE129.INF in all
parameters !
I will publish more detailed information later, so keep an eye on the
website - http://www.os2ecs.net/
eCS-Demo in German PC-Magazine
The (German) "PC Magazine CREATIVE" issue number 11 deals with
alternatives to Windows. The 4 page article on eCS is mostly OS/2
friendly. A short excerpt: "OS/2 offers..... Stability. The operating
system contains an outstanding hardware manager, excellent memory
management, sophisticated multitasking and..... a highly scalable
implementation of multithreading."
Contents of the DVD enclosed with this issue: An ISO file for a special
edition of eComStation that exclusively boots from CD (which needs to be
burned on your own) as well as a trial version of Virtual PC 5.0 (that
requires Windows).

SB Audigy reported working with the Innotek UNIAUD driver...
Aymeric Peyret told me on eComStation IRC network he downloaded the
Innotek Uniaud driver from eComstation.com (its the same one as from
software choice). Now the following chipsets the readme are listed as
supported and other chipsets should not work (?):
- SBLIVE : Sound Blaster Live!
- CS4281 : Cirrus Logic CS4281
- ALS4000 : Avance Logic ALS4000
- CMEDIA : C-Media CMI8738
- ICH : Intel ICH + SigmaTel STAC9721/23
Force detection of specified audio hardware
(BTW UNIAUD is a port of the audio Alsa driver ported from Linux)
It worked on his system with an SB Audigy with Warpvision and system
sounds and MP3 files could be played. Uniaud also reported it as an Audigy
at startup. The following information he provided:
Vendor 1102h Creative Labs <-!!!!
Device 0004h EMU10K2 Audio Chipset (SB Audigy) <-!!!!!!
Command 0005h (I/O Access, BusMaster)
Status 0290h (Has Capabilities List, Supports Back-To-Back Trans., Medium
Timing)
Revision 03h, Header Type 80h, Bus Latency 20h
Self test 00h (Self test not supported)
PCI Class Multimedia, type Audio
Subsystem ID 00511102h SB0090 Audigy Platinum
Subsystem Vendor 1102h Creative Labs
Address 0 is an I/O Port : 0000C400h
System IRQ 9, INT# A
New Capabilities List Present:
Power Management Capability
Supports power state D1
Current Power State : D0 (Device operational, no power saving)
So does this mean run out and get a SB Audigy ? I would almost say yes....
But I don't know what Creative has done and if there are maybe more
revisions/versions of the SB Audigy (Meaning there could mixer problems
for instance or other problems). People who already have an Audigy and
have it working with Uniaud please report back your chipset and vendor ID.
Use for that the tool pci037vk from http://hobbes.nmsu.edu (search for
pci047vk)
Please send the output of pci047 and your experience (does it trap (which
it should not do..), does a mixer not work). Send to rwklein@mensys.nl When I have more reports I will report back.

Warp Wishlist Update
After three and a half years of neglect on my part, Kris Lake graciously
volunteered to update the Warp Wishlist: http://www.os2bbs.com/os2news/OS2Wishlist.html
This is a list of operating system and application enhancements that
current eComStation and OS/2 users believe are worth paying for. By
offering potential third-party developers ideas about OS/2 projects they
might create, a number of gaps in the library of OS components,
middleware, end user applications, and programing tools could be filled.
There are links to OS/2 software which delivers a great many of the
requested enhancements either today, or will in the near future! An
indication of the status (freeware / shareware / commercial status) is
given in many instances. Your help with links and in identifying other
OS/2 software that may fulfill the wishes of different readers is greatly
appreciated!
JPhotoBrush 2.0.2
JPhotoBrush 2.0.2 has been released
JPhotoBrush is an Image Editing and Enhancement Application/Tool written
in Java 1.3 making extensive use of Swings and Java2D.
Of course I won't say it competes with Adobe PhotoShop,Ulead's
PhotoImpact, but its not one of those run-of-the-mill image editing tools.
The cool thing about it is that it can run in any java supported
platforms. It has innumerable features, has friendly user interface and has
been succesfully tested in Windows 9x/Nt/2000/ME, Solaris, Linux, IRIX,
Mac, and OS/2. And version 2.0 has the plugin concepts where you can add
you own or a third party plugin !!. Plus it is a freeware (for
non-commercial use). However if anyone would like to support further
development and enhancement, they are most welcome to make their
contribution financially and technically.
* Fixes to some known bugs:
sub version fixes:
ver 2.0.1: JPEG image saving problem fixed
ver 2.0.2: Line drawing problem when image is scrolled

Astrolog 1.0
Magnus Olsson (known for e.g. warpcalc) has released Astrolog 1.0
Astrolog is a classic when it comes to astrology software, not only is it
100 percent open source software, but it is also the most complete, and
most flexible astrology calculation program ever made freely available.
Thanks to the original author Walter D. Pullen Astrolog is already
available on multiple platforms, including DOS, Windows, Mac and Unix.
The fact that Astrolog is open source software has also made this
independent port to OS/2 possible.
