Open Watcom 1.0 RC1 is ready!
Hi Guys,
I just started the upload process for uploading the Open Watcom 1.0 RC1
release. It will take an hour or so probably to get completely uploaded,
so in about an hour you should be able to download the RC1 binary files
from the web and ftp sites. The web site has been updated with the
information about the release, as well as updated download links
(although they won't work till the files show up ;-).
I tested it with all my code here and it worked great (especially Michael
Devore's new CWHELP.EXE updates!). So please download it, test it and let
us know what you think. If there are no major problems with this release,
we will make it golden and rename the RC1 build to make it the final
release.
Also for this release we merged the C/C++ and FORTRAN compilers into a
single download package. There was just too much duplication of effort in
the installers to maintain them separately, and the FORTRAN guys need
most of the C compiler stuff anyway. I am unable to test the FORTRAN
compilers, so someone else who does FORTRAN programming will have to test
this.
Also feel free to post this information everywhere on the net to increase
the awareness of this compiler.
NOTE: We have released the new Windows and OS/2 binary installers under
a slightly modified license and have retained all rights to the installer
source code and script files (not the ZIP files, core source code or
manifests etc). We have placed the restriction on the installers
specifically such that others wishing to re-distirbute the installers
will need to first get written permission from SciTech. This is primarily
done such that we can control how the product is advertised for download
on other web site and how it is distributed on CD-ROM etc. It is
doubtful we would refuse permission to anyone or any company, but when
we give permission we will require specific guidelines to be followed
such as proper links on their site to the official Open Watcom web sit
as well as the Open Watcom donations page (for web sites offering free
downloads of the installers).
Thanks!

SRE2003: An Internet Interface for OS/2
SRE2003 is an Internet Interface for OS/2. More precisely, SRE2003
provides a set of functions and capabilties that allow you to implement a
web server through a "filter" program that is written in REXX. In
addition to a fairly simple filter included with SRE2003, several filter
programs are publically available (such as SREhttp/2) - or you can write
your own! Upgrader note: SRE2003 is modeled after the GoSERVE Internet
Server.

features include multi-hosting, digest and basic authentication, resource
specific access controls, HTACCES controls, CGI-BIN support, NCSA SSI
support, range responses, and common-log auditing. Additional advanced
features include content-negotiation, on-the-fly GZIP encoding, best-match
generation for not found resources, on-line configuration tools, and
support for PUT and DELETE method requests. Lastly, SREhttp/2 is designed
to be modified: with several hooks that accomodate REXX procedures (such
as dynamic controls on resource utilization). Upgrader note: SREhttp/2 is

started some time ago and, at the time, didn't feel it met a need. I have
brushed it up a bit and am releasing it as an additional application to
WarpZip and the PillarSoft Suite. "WarpZip Lite" offers a lightweight way to extract zip files while
working on your desktop. It becomes an "Open as..." menu selection for
zip files objects and allows the user to extract the archive to any
selected (or created) directory. Currently, WarpZip Lite works only on
ZIP archives as the basis for this program was done before WarpZip had
support for other archivers. Using WarpZip Lite is as easy as right clicking any zip file icon
(object) and selecting "WarpZip Lite" from the "Open as" menu. Once the
window opens, users may make their target directory selection and press
the "Extract" button to unzip the archive and optionally, open the folder
where it was unzipped. Users may create directories or let WarpZip Lite create directories based
on the archive name. After a directory is created, WarpZip Lite will
extract the archive and (optionally) open the destination directory
folder on the desktop after the extraction. The user may also elect to use the "Quick Extract" selection. Quick
Extract will automatically find the system TMP or TEMP directory and
create a subdirectory based on the first eight chars of the archive
filename. After the directory is created, the archive is extracted into
it and (optionally) the directory folder is opened on the desktop. WarpZip Lite is only available to registered users of WarpZip or the
PillarSoft Suite. Data Shield has also been updated to be able to do secure cleanups on
Mozilla installations. Data Shield is a secure deletion program that removes sensitive
information from a hard drive. Normally, deleting a file only marks the
file as deleted on your drive but the data remains and may still be
recovered. Data Shield will obliterate it so that data may not be
recovered by overwriting it x number of times or according to Department
of Defense specification. It has options to do a standard or secure delete on: Data Shield will automatically find standard installations of Netscape
2.02, 4.04, 4.61 or 6.0 and Mozilla while offering to clean any part of
it according to the versions need. In this version we have included the routines to securely overwrite and
clean entries for Mozilla as well as a few changes in file deletion
routines to increase effectiveness. If you have sensitive data on a drive (financial records or client lists
for example) never give away or sell the drive without cleaning it
thoroughly. ************************************** There is no charge for these updates. Data Shield is not for sale separately but is available as part of the
PillarSoft Suite which has been updated to contain both of these programs
plus 13 more OS/2 and eCS specific programs for only $99. WarpZip Lite is available as part of WarpZip or the PillarSoft Suite.
WarpZip is $29 and is available through BMT Micro, Mensys and others.
Take a peek at our website for more information on WarpZip, Data Shield
and the PillarSoft Suite.
Downloads and more information: Contacts Viewer 2.1 Contacts Viewer is a freeware program that lets you search and view data
from TAB-delimited ASCII-files. The original 1.x versions were made for
OS/2 users who also use a Psion PDA. The program made it possible to
access the Contacts data from the OS/2 desktop. Of course version 2.xx is
still up to this task, but it can also be used to view data from other
sources (i.e. files exported databases, spreadsheets and more). Contacts
Viewer works directly with the ASCII-file. It's not a database and there
is no need to import data into the program. It's a viewer, which means you
can not use this program to edit, delete or add new records. Contacts
Viewer only reads information from the harddisk. It *never* writes
anything to your disk. The program interface was made with good old VisPro
Rexx 2.1 that was released in the mid 90's of the previous century. I
still think it's brilliant! Contacts Viewer 2.01 can be downloaded from the 'useful utilities' page on
my 'Psion to OS/2 Connection' website at http://os2.mensys.nl/psion Regards, CDS Newletter - Jan 03 CDS Newsletter - January 2003 In this issue: - New product announcement: Back Again II Server - Small Business Edition

in ASCII (plain text) format. For instance: data exported from a database,
spreadsheet, wordprocessor or data that is used on an other platform like
a Personal Digital Assistants. These are the kind of files that will have
one record on each line, where each line has several fields (delimited by
comma, TAB or with a fixed lengt for each field). With ListBuilder you

newsletter includes the following sections: A 1README.TXT file is attached to the .ZIP file explaining
how to install and view the newsletter using standard web
browsers, such as the Netscape Navigator. OS/2 CONNECT is distributed electronically to the following: WPSWizard 0.3 Chris Wohlgemuth has released the WPS Wizard 0.3 WPS-Wizard is an addon for the WPS which gives you freely configurable
context menus for all filesystem objects. You may have different extended
menus for different classes. For example iconfiles may have other menu
extension than audiofiles. A REXX interface gives access to the WPS from user scripts. REXX
callbacks may be used to add features to WPS objects similar to
subclassing an object. New with V0.3.0 are toolbars for folders and
object hints, both created using the new REXX callbacks. You may
customize these features for different classes and even single objects.
This means attach a REXX script to an object to perform special actions
when requesting a menu or opening a folder. This way you may for example
have different toolbars for different folders. Features http://www.os2world.com/cdwriting/ PCI Sound Card Matrix II hello, I created an updated soundcard matrix based on the older one by Alex
