OpenTTD, an open source game in the style of "Transport Tycoon Deluxe",
has just released version 0.3.6, which includes a port for OS/2 (using
SDL). There are many bug fixes and new features, in particular related to
multiplayer. There are also a few OS/2 specific bugfixes: see the full

I'm personally sick of seeing all these stupid trolls ruining the
comp.os.os2 groups with nothing but lies and FUD and am very happy to see
some real OS/2-eCS users accomplishing something in these groups of late.

My tenure at new Mexico State University is fast coming to an end.
Although I have a commitment from the Unix manager here to continue
supporting hobbes(he uses it to train student employees in standard
server support processes) there is pressure to eliminate hobbes that will
escalate when I leave, and of course, I might not be the only one leaving.
Hobbes has received little external support over its 2 decades of
existence at NMSU(where will OS/2 be in 2010? 2020?). I've 'detained'
boxes on their way out to surplus (some may remember the 1st hobbes at
NMSU was a Next system) and 'borrowed' student employee hours to support
it. The total of external donations over 20 years is less than $200.
Since hobbes, to most computers, is really hobbes.nmsu.edu, it really
isn't practical to 'transfer' it to another location. The plan was to
give lots of notice before it died so that someone could copy all the
files to another server or servers, one of which would probably become the
future favorite OS/2 site, or at least, most well known.
Looking at the success of the OS/2 tinderbox funding model, do you think
that the Amazon Honor system would be a good model to fund a longer life
for hobbes? I think the university would look more kindly on hobbes if
there were some revenue, and student labor is cheap. And the training
value is recognised by more than a few. A few thousand a year would go a
long way toward preserving hobbes at its current well known address, and
maybe even upgrade it( it is currently running on an old RS/6000 550 with
little space or memory and a tenency to fail). And, even though retired,
any continued input from me would receive more attention if money was on
the table.
The university has a big network pipe(100 mb), even if heavily used,
with redundant backbones. So moving it to another ISP would not only lose
its well known address but possibly provide poorer access.
PLEASE, restrict response to the question. Hobbes has gotten all the
praise and complaint it will ever need, and you know how testy old guys
can get.

Mike getting enough money for a build machine was the easy part. He has
plenty now.
The hard part is picking out a machine to buy, or picking out components
with which to build one. Mike's thing is programming, not hardware. IBM
isn't going to give him an OS/2 certified or any other machine. So, if we
want to see this project bear fruit in a reasonable time, the hardware
wise among us should collaborate to help Mike with this task. Besides

communicating over AOL's Instant Messenger network using the OSCAR

Added -s "Skip intial load from clipboard" option.
Added action to clear unlocked clips.
Fixed bug whereby F1 would cause a crash.
Fixed bug - Catch if external edit of clip in prgress & ClipView closed.
Added check to catch delete of bottom clip if locked.
Added removal of the > symbol when clip capture off and a clip hits the
clipboard.
Changed "Deleting the last clip leaves all locked" to
say clip instead of buffer.
Menu items CUA compliant.
Added RMB support for locked clips.
Fixed clip selection problem caused by setting a clip to append

I don't know about you, but I always seem to want to paste what I clipped
three operations back :-) So I wrote ClipView, based on the Unix program
cutview.
The Clipview suite of programs consists of:
ClipView v2.9 - Gives multiple text clipboards. Clips may be printed,
edited, saved to a buffer and locked. Optionally the entire set of clips
and their state can be saved across invocations of ClipView.
ClipPrint v1.2 - Prints the current text contents of the clipboard.
PipeClip v2.3 - Used on the command line to pipe output to the clipboard.

ClipPipe v1.0 - Used on the command line to pipe input from the
clipboard.
eg clippipe | someprogram
ClipWait v1.0 - Used in scripts to wait until something gets written to
the clipboard.

A little background first: The WarpZilla team needs to purchase a
computer to support continued development of the OS/2 - eCS versions of
Mozilla, Firebird, Thunderbird and the various other items associated with
Mozilla.org. The primary reason for the need to purchase this system is
so the team has the ability to continue professional development and
testing on its own without support from IBM. A tinderbox/nightly system
will provide nightly builds for testing. As the source code for these
programs is rather large a very fast system is needed in order to complete
compiles in reasonable times.
Last Firday Mike Kaply posted the URL to a donations account he set up at
Amazon.com. Amazingly after only about 36 hours the account maxed out and
started rejecting contributions. Mike wasn't aware that Amazon has
monthly limits on how much can be contributed. He has now set up another
account at Amazon so that contributions can continue:

There is a small Article in the February Issue of the c't, a well known
computer magazine in Germany, on Page 32. It says something about eCS 1.2,
that it's based on OS/2 and that an additional application Pack, including
a X11 Server, is available.

There had been a really long while since I had update my first OS/2 site.
So, today I took some time to update the site.

I had fix some dead links and I had also included two new categories:
# Java Emulators working under OS/2-eCS.
# Windows 32 Emulators working with Odin under OS/2-eCS.
The categories still alittle bit empty, but they are going to keep growing
with time.
If you have know any other a Win32 Emulator that runs under OS/2 let me
know !!
