SETIView/2 & SVCache updated
I've just updated SETIView/2 (nto 0.9.3) and SVCache (to 0.1.7). The
changes are mainly small bug fixes, but there's a new column in
SETIView/2, and SVCache can now be run in Windows.

bzip2 1.0.2
http://sources.redhat.com/bzip2/index.html
What is bzip2?
bzip2 is a freely available, patent free (see below), high-quality data
compressor. It typically compresses files to within 10% to 15% of the best
available techniques (the PPM family of statistical compressors), whilst
being around twice as fast at compression and six times faster at
decompression.

Gnuplot 3.8i released
Petr Mikulik has released Gnuplot 3.8i
Gnuplot is a command-line driven interactive function plotting utility.
The software is copyrighted but freely distributed (i.e., you don't have
to pay for it). It was originally intended as graphical program which
would allow scientists and students to visualize mathematical functions
and data. Gnuplot supports many different types of terminals, plotters, and printers
(including many color devices, and pseudo-devices like LaTeX) and is
easily extensible to include new devices. [ The "GNU" in gnuplot is OT related to the Free Software Foundation, the naming is just a coincidence (and a long story; see the gnuplot FAQ for details). Thus
gnuplot is not covered by the Gnu copyleft, but rather by its own
copyright statement, included in all source code files.]
Gnuplot handles both curves (2 dimensions) and surfaces (3 dimensions).
Surfaces can be plotted as a mesh fitting the specified
function, floating in the 3-d coordinate space, or as a contour plot on
the x-y plane. For 2-d plots, there are also many plot styles,
including lines, points, lines with points, error bars, and impulses
(crude bar graphs). Graphs may be labeled with arbitrary labels and
arrows, axes labels, a title, date and time, and a key. The interface
includes command-line editing and history on most platforms.

PHP 4.1.2 Security Update
As the File Upload function of PHP contains several security leaks, it
is stronly advised to update to the newest PHP 4.12 which is available for
OS/2 thanks to Brian Havard
PHP is a popular scripting language most commonly used with a web server
to produce dynamically generated web page. I've ported it to OS/2 and
built the binaries below including the functions that require the
following optional libraries:
* GDBM v1.7.3
* MySQL client v3.23.39
* PostgreSQL client v7.0.2
* ZLib v1.1.3
* GD v1.2
* FreeType v1.2
* t1lib v0.9.2
* PDFLib v4.0.1

New to version 4.01
-------------------
Version 4.01 is merely a bug fix release; check the change history on our
web site for a full list. The most important fixes are:
* Fixed hard error popup when cdboot is started in PM mode
(drive x: is not ready...)
* Added CD Cover and freedb commands to all of CD View's context menus
* CD View's audio parameter dialog and related commands were renamed
to "CD View options"; new are two controls to optionally send
track numbers and times to CD Cover Print
* CD View and CopyWizard now support writing speeds up to 40x
* CD View used to "forget" user-edited track titles when a CD was copied
in DAO mode. This was fixed; however, recorders do not return a correct
TOC after a DAO copy if the CD is not ejected and re-read. So after a
DAO
copy operation, the CD is ejected and re-read to obtain a correct TOC

nftp 1.64 beta
NFTP features
NFTP is a text-mode ftp client for (in alphabetical order): BeOS (Intel R4
and up), Digital Unix (Alpha), FreeBSD (Intel), Linux (Intel, SPARC),
OS/2, Solaris (SPARC and Intel), Windows 95/NT. Here `text-mode' means
that it runs in fullscreen mode or text window -- Command-line session on
OS/2, Command Prompt on Windows 95/NT, console or xterm on Unix, Terminal
on BeOS. However, with version 1.50 the quasi-GUI version has appeared for
OS/2. It looks much like textmode version, but utilizes native GUI menu,
some dialog boxes, can be resized freely etc. This does not mean of course
that textmode version will be abandoned. X11 version (using Xlib) appeared
in version 1.51. One of the main design concepts of NFTP is speed and
effectiveness of text-mode keyboard interface. Everything can be done
without mouse!
To clarify things a little, NFTP is not based on ncftp; neither on user
interface nor on source code. The code is written from scratch (I have
started the project in 1994m, but NFTP was OS/2-only until Feb 1998). Some
ideas might seem to be common but still such ones are floating in the air,
every decent FTP client should support things like directory caching and
restarting transfers. Furthermore, NFTP user interface is quite different
from ncftp's. Name "NFTP" comes from somewhat ugly "New FTP client".
Personally, I think NFTP is the most advanced FTP client in the Unix world
(although you might disagree with my opinion, of course). Under Windows
and OS/2, it stands aside as almost all FTP clients for these systems are
GUI-based (unlike NFTP). While GUI offers prettiness and ease of use for
novices, textmode interface gives speed without sacrificing power
(including speed of use when you learn key combinations). Besides,
textmode interface makes possible the same interface on a variety of
systems, including Unix.

UNZIP v5.50 with unShrink support
InfoZip UNZIP v5.50 (for decompressing/extracting ZIP files), recompiled
with support for "shrink" (LZW) re-enabled. Will successfully process
archives with shrink-compressed files (e.g. IBM Feature Installer) where
the 'standard' UNZIP binary will not. See README.OS2 for specific
compilation flags used. This binary package is a simple re-make performed
by the uploader (see contact email), who is not affiliated with InfoZip in
any way.
Operating System/Version: 32-bit OS/2 (only tested on Warp)
