The InnoTek OS/2 Platform Enablement Kit for Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05

the needs of enterprises still running the IBM OS/2 platform while
requiring access to the latest PDF electronic document technology from
Adobe Systems.
The OS/2 Kit for Acrobat Reader consists of an integrated toolset to allow
deploying the original Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05 and future versions (once
supported by InnoTek with the OS/2 Kit) for the Microsoft Windows platform
on the OS/2 platform.

SmartCache development suspended
According to a message posted on the SmartCache home page, Radim Kolar has
suddenly suspended development of SmartCache because of what he terms "a
major security problem" having to do with SmartCache's use of the standard
localhost IP number, 127.0.0.1.
SmartCache is a web page-caching program written in Java which runs well
under OS/2.

LimeWire version 3.8.6 (req: Java 1.4)
With Innotek's Java 1.4.2_02 installed, the latest version of the Gnutella
client Limewire (3.8.6) runs fine under OS/2. This version offers
considerable peformance enhancements over the 2.8.5 version (which only
requires Java 1.1.7) currently on Hobbes. However, on my system, it works
best with the "ultrapeer" capability switched OFF.

Warpstock Wants to Know.....
In the course of Warpstock's decision to hold an event this year, we want
to ask for discussion of the following premise:
Would you be willing to pay up to $500 extra to sit in on a two day class?
[Class would be the Thursday and Friday PRIOR to Warpstock.]
And what subjects would you be willing to pay to learn for $500?
Do you have anyone in particular that you think is qualified to teach the
classes you want?
Now, Warpstock is not saying that the class fee would be $500, it could be
less, it could be more and we are talking about a single course not one
day of this class and one day of that class. We might be able to find two
single day topics that could be ala carte, but you would have to tell us
which ones you were attending in advance. But we are trying to determine
honest interest from the community as to the possibility of have some
additional for pay classes PRIOR to Warpstock's standard weekend. To do
this, we HAVE to pay the teachers of these classes, the rooms and
possibly box lunch for everyone attending. We believe based on other
corporate teaching rates, that at $500 were charged we could find and pay
teachers for classes as small as 10 students. (Don't ask me about what if
there was more students, right now I'm only thinking of 10 as a minium to
cover costs and pay a normal teaching fee.)
Email your opinion to Warpstock-corp@yahoogroups.com if you don't
want to discuss it in pubic or visit the Warpstock-public forum on Yahoo
Groups. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/warpstock-public/
I and the Warpstock BOD look forward to your suggestions and comments.

OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 Beta 3 won't install over the old version. And the

Solution: Wipe out files in the \program subdirectory.

Audacity "cross platform?" audio editor released
Just saw this on /.
Apparently this is a popular sound/music editor in to OSS world. Nothing
for OS/2, but there's Linux/*nix, Mac and Win versions, which shows it's
pretty cross platform. There was someone working on an OS/2 sound editor
a couple years ago, but that seemed to have died. Most people I know of
still use the old 16bit CoolEdit if they want to do this stuff in OS/2.
Looks like a great opportunity for anyone looking for a project. It's
built on the wxWidgets windowing library.
From Slashdot:
http://developers.slashdot.org/developers/04/03/02/0842229.shtml mbrubeck
writes "After almost two years of development, the free cross-platform
sound editor Audacity has released a new stable version for Linux, Mac OS
X, and Windows. Audacity 1.2 has major improvements including
professional-quality dithering and resampling, and new pitch- and
speed-changing effects. Our previous stable release was announced on
Slashdot in June 2002. More recently, Audacity was presented at this
year's CodeCon in San Francisco."
