Another new Memsize 4.0 beta
Rick Papo has released a new beta of Memsize 4.0
This program provides a digital clock (with date), the elapsed time since your
system's last restart, the amount of free virtual memory, the current swap-file
size, the maximum amount the swap-file can still grow, the current CPU load (%),
the number of active tasks and the amount of disk space free on each of your hard
disks. Each figure is updated once per second, or at whatever interval from one
to thirty seconds that you wish. Removable disk drives (including CDs) are not supported
at this time.
Changes since 18 June 2001:
(1) Minor corrections to German translation.
(2) Accept POP parameters without validation, if so requested.
(3) Expanded time format field to 80 characters.
(4) Stop logging POP errors.

DFsee 3.41 released
Jan van Wijk has released DFsee 3.41
The DFSee program has been built while studying the HPFS filesystem. It's main
purpose is getting to understand file-systems as they are found on the disk itself,
in the data-structures laid down in disk-sectors. Over time, additional logic was
implemented to allow analysis of all sorts of disk problems on HPFS and FAT volumes.

Because of the increasing international interest in ISDNPM (Dialer for ISDN,
DSL ~modem), there is now a new forum/mailing list on Yahoo! Groups under the name
ISDNPM INT with the primary language ENGLISH. The past mailing list isdnpm@yahoogroups.com
will of course continue as well.
XWorkplace and WarpIN 0.9.13 are out
1. WarpIN V0.9.13 has been released.
WarpIN is intended to become the new universal OS/2 installer. It is becoming
more and more popular among OS/2 developers because of its flexibility and ease
of use. It has full system configuration (CONFIG.SYS, WPS classes, WPS objects)
and can fully undo all the changes to your system again.
V0.9.13 has some minor fixes, mostly for better Odin and Opera support.
2. XWorkplace V0.9.13 is out also.
XWorkplace is the most feature-rich freeware Workplace Shell enhancer on the
planet, and even better, it is OpenSource. XWorkplace is the successor to my popular
XFolder utility and has become a Netlabs project.

V0.9.13 again fixes quite a number of bugs. In addition, some new features were
added -- among them, per popular request, a tray widget for the XCenter.
To install XWorkplace, you need WarpIN V0.9.9 or higher.

June 2001 Netscape 4.61 Refresh
Today IBM has released the June 2001 OS/2 Netscape 4.61 Refresh. Please see URL

NOTE: The problem that many are having not being able to start Netscape 4.61
15 or more times is not fixed by this refresh. That problem has been identified
to be in the Operating System. XR_C001, when released, will fix this problem in
the Convenience Packages.

"OS/2 Netscape 4.61 June 2001 Refresh released
On July 6th, 2001 IBM OS/2 Fix Distribution released the June 2001 Refresh of
OS/2 Netscape 4.61. The Refresh will be available in English-US and 13 National
Language Versions.
It is distributed as a single file that you should download to a directory and
then execute. Once expanded, review the README2 file for the list of fixes (also
available on the FixPak Repository under the "Netscape Communicator for OS/2
V461, XR_461A"). See the READ.ME for install details.
The Refresh is stored on a site that checks your IP address to verify that it
is a valid IP address to secure a copy due to export restrictions on the code. To
secure the Refresh, please either use the FixPak Repository to access the site,
or you may use this link, http://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/netscape4/nc461os2w-p.
Select the English-US or National Language Version required.

VOICE server being upgraded
Today ( Thursday, July 6th ) we are in the process of adding two new hard drives
to the VOICE server. Besides the very minimal downtime that is necessary to install
the new hardware, there will also be intermittent periods of time during the next
2-3 days, when our web sites (http://www.os2voice.org,
http://de.os2voice.org and http://www.warpdoctor.org)
and other services may be unavailable as we move files to the new volumes on the
new drives. We will endeavour to keep downtime to a minimum.
This upgrade will allow us to provide more services to VOICE members and the
OS/2 community at large in the future. We thank our members for the funds that allow
us to perform this upgrade and everyone for your continued support, and appologize
for any short term inconvenience this upgrade may cause anyone.

Warpstock Europe 2001 comes to Belgium!
The Warpstock Europe Event Team is pleased to announce that Europe's annual OS/2
and eComStation conference is coming back for the third time, this time crossing
the border to Belgium. Warpstock Europe 2001 will be held at the 'KH Limburg' College
in Diepenbeek, Belgium on November 2-4, 2001.
OS/2 and eComStation users from all over Europe -- or anywhere else for that
matter, are invited to come to Belgium this year to attend Warpstock Europe 2001.
Even though the organization of the event is still in it's early stages, the Event
Team already has many ideas on what to offer during this three day OS/2-fest. Plan
on coming if you want to attend high-quality lectures about a variety of OS/2 and
eComStation related subjects. You'll talk to software developers, meet the people
behind Netlabs and Odin, discover the new and exciting eComStation, learn about
new products, buy them or try them out at the Exhibit Hall, and finally expect to
have a smashing time at the Warpstock Europe Social Night Event. "The third
edition of Warpstock Europe is an important milestone in the event's short history,
and everything will be in place to make it a big success", says John Bijnens,
the Event Team's coordinator.
Located in the heart of Western Europe, Belgium is at a convenient traveling
distance for people coming from Holland, Germany and France. Attendees flying in
from other countries will arrive at Brussels International Airport, which is only
80 km away from where the event will be held. To accommodate attendees from outside
of Europe, the Event Team is planning special arrangements for transportation from
the airport to the event site. Diepenbeek, Belgium and neighboring city Hasselt
are perfectly suited to host the Warpstock Europe 2001 Conference. Attendees will
feel comfortable and at ease in Hasselt, which is a very safe and exceptionally
clean mid-sized city with excellent shopping facilities, and is conveniently located
only a one hour driving away from major Belgian cities, including Brussels, Antwerp
and Leuven.
Place for all the action at Warpstock Europe 2001 will be the 'KH Limburg' College.
Members of the Event Team have already concluded a first inspection of the site
with nothing but positive results. "This site has everything this conference
needs to succeed", says Technical Coordinator Johan Driesmans, and "we
would like to thank the College Board of Directors for their support and for making
this site available to us." Large conference rooms will be available for presentation
sessions and hands-on workshops. The spacious exhibition hall provides enough room
for Warpstock Europe vendors, and it can be closed off before and after event hours.
There will be an "Internet cafe" offering free Internet access to attendees,
a restaurant, a separate press room, guarded parking space for hundreds of cars,
etc.
Behind the organization of Warpstock Europe 2001 is an international group of
OS/2-users. "It's good to see that so many people are still out there, willing
to fight for an event like this", says OS2.org web master Andreas Linde. And
Exhibitor Coordinator Luc Van Bogaert says : "No way we could make a successful
event without the help and support from our friends at Team OS/2 Deutschland e.V.;
they're the ones who've made the first two editions become reality and we're fortunate
to have them around, helping out with this year's edition".

there you can find CD- ~DVD-ROM drives with OS/2 support!
[Moderator's note: Though these drives list OS/2 Warp as a supported platform
you would still need UDFS support to read data DVDs. Otherwise they will only work
as CDROM drives. UDFS is included with Warp Server eBusiness, Software Choice and
eComstation.]

TCP/IP for DOS interface
I never found any documentation about the interface used by IBM TCP/IP for DOS
(virtual exists under OS/2 MDOS). Last week I finally discovered the basics, then
more. Today I can say that I can do about 95% with the interface directly via assembly.
Not using the Developer Toolkit. This has the advantage of programming the interface
under assembly or other languages than MS C.
If anyone is interested or wants to write some documentation for the public,
please contact me. I will explain and help you with it. A shim to make Arachne/DOS
working under OS/2 would be possible, too. (!) But currently I dont have time. My
current TCP/IP interface driver uses just 2k (!).

Warpzilla 0.9.2 has been released

This build is fully optimized, so the performance is much better than any previous
build.
