Subject: Warpstock Europe 2001 Travel Update
The biggest OS/2 event in Europe is less than 4 months away, so it is time to
start planning your journey to Warpstock Europe 2001, especially if you have a busy
schedule in November and you don't want to miss one day of this exciting three-day
conference.
"This year's event site is perfectly located for most visitors", says
Team Coordinator John Bijnens. "With Hasselt (Diepenbeek) we have found a location
that can be reached by car in less than one hour from most major cities in Belgium
and in just a few hours from major cities in The Netherlands, Germany and France."
Web master ~Technical Coordinator Johan Driesmans says : "We are expecting
visitors from all over Europe and even people from other continents to attend Warpstock
Europe this year, and we want to provide them with an overview of their traveling
options to help them plan their journey."
Most international flights to Belgium arrive at Zaventem (BRU - Brussels), which
is located approximately 70 km from the event site. If you are planning to rent
a car and drive to the event site yourself, you will find several car rental companies
at the airport terminal. Complete driving directions from Brussels to Hasselt will
be made available on the Warpstock Europe web site. There are also some flights
to regional airports like Gosselies (Charleroi), Deurne (Antwerp), Bierset (Liege)
and Beek (Maastricht, NL). Those are often operated by low budget airlines, so it
may be worthwhile to check them out too.
Traveling by train to Warpstock Europe is a convenient alternative. There's a
train shuttle service between the airport terminal in Zaventem and the city center
of Brussels. The Belgian railway operator NMBS offers connections to Hasselt every
hour from all major cities in Belgium, including Brussels, Antwerp, Gent, Leuven,
Ostend and Luik (Li ge). On weekdays, train connections are available every half
hour from Brussels, Gent and Leuven.
From the city center of Hasselt - which is only a few kilometers away from the
event site, several bus routes are available at very affordable rates, to take you
to the KHLim Campus in Diepenbeek. Up-to-date bus schedules for connections from
Hasselt to the event site are available for download at the Warpstock Europe web
site.
Finally, here's a collection of web sites with useful information to help you
plan a convenient and trouble-free journey to Warpstock Europe 2001 :

The Warpstock Europe 2001 Conference will be held on November 2-4, 2001 at the
'KH Limburg' College near Hasselt, Belgium. Warpstock Europe is an annual gathering
of developers, vendors and users of the OS/2 and eComStation operating systems,
for the purpose of education, providing information and support to everyone with
an interest in these operating systems or related technology. More information is
available at the Warpstock Europe web site http://warpstock.os2.org

ZxMail updated to v1.04
We recommend that you update to this version.
Here what changed in this new release:
Fixed:
Memory exception in returning to an external email address. Window title not
updated after entering registration info.
Known issue (Unresolved at this time)
If installed on a JFS partition the OS does not commit the change to an ini file
on shutdown. so registartion info would need to be entered again, this appears to
be a JFS issue, as soon as a work around is found I will post an updated message.

Larsen Commander update
Today (July 23 2001) Leif-Erik Larsen has released version 1.5.2 of his popular
GUI file manager and command processor, Larsen Commander.
For a list of changes, take a look at
http://home.online.no/~leifel/lcmd/history.html
Larsen Commander has a look and feel like the classic Norton Commander, but in
a GUI environment. It combines the best of two very different worlds; - the command
line and the file management panels. Both are available at the same time, and even
in parallel while one or more commands are running in the background!
Larsen Commander is extremely useful espessially for advanced users such as programmers
and system administrators that knows the power and the value of having the command
line possibilities and the file operation panels available at the same time and
in the same shell window. In fact, you can use Larsen Commander almost exactly the
same way as you are using the standard system shell, but with a large number of
additional and powerful features, such as the console monitor being scrollable and
not limited to those "stupid" 25 lines or so of the default OS/2 shell.
But Larsen Commander is not only for the advanced users. Even the novice will
find this piece of software very nice at hand. It makes the standard file operations
a play, such as copying, moving and renaming files and directories. And of course
the command line can be 100% disabled and hidden, for those who never uses it anyway.
Larsen Commander is available at
http://home.online.no/~leifel/lcmd/index.html

DFSee 4.00 released, SHAREWARE
For those of you that don't know DFSee yet, DFSee is an FDISK,display, analysis
and recovery tool for disks and filesystems.
Because of the targeted use for DFSee it is a command line and text-only utility
(no GUI). At the moment an OS/2, WinNT and DOS version exist.
Version 4.00 of the DFSee program was released on 18-07-2001 This is the first
version of DFSee that is distributed as SHAREWARE
DFSee can still be downloaded from my web-site, but after a short evaluation,
and for all real use you are required to get a registration. They can be purchased
from the Mensys online shop for about US $17.
Details can be found at: http://www.fsys.demon.nl/dfsee.htm
Version 4.00 only has minor functional updates on the previous freeware version
(3.42 being the last one). Several improvements are planned for upcomming 4.xx releases:
- Better user-interface, adding menus and dialogs (but still text-based) - More
complete LVM support, allowing creation of LVM compatible partitions - More supprt
for the JFS filesystem as used in eComStation and WsEB - Copy and move of whole
partitions on the same or different disk
Registering DFSee will give you the right to use all 4.xx versions and get support
plus a reasonable amount of assistance by email.
But even more important, it enables further development of the DFSee program.
Without any funding like this, I cannot afford to give support and develop DFSee
much further.
Depending on interest in DFSee (registrations sold) more functionality could
be included in upcoming versions, like resizing of partitions.
I would very much like to hear about experiences you have with DFSee, either
positive or negative.
