Update: USB update on SWChoice
It may be mentionable also that "EHCI" according to the referenced URL is
for USB 2.0! Here's a quote from the referenced URL:
"The USB Basic Device Support Package provides the basic OS/2 support
required for USB devices that meets the USB 1.0 OHCI, USB 1.1 UHCI, or USB
2.0 EHCI specifications."
Apple's Open-Source Streaming Media Server?
Has anyone looked at porting Darwin Streaming Server (Apple's open source
streaming media server software, supporting QuickTime, MP3, etc.) to OS/2
Warp?
The homepage for this project is here:
http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/streaming
and there's a link to download the source code.
Darwin Streaming Server is already available for Mac OS X, Linux, FreeBSD,
and Windows.
There's a Frequently Asked Questions list which explains the
platform-specific portions of the source code. Apple says the following:
- OSThread, OSCond, OSMutex: Implements threads, mutexes, and condition
variables. The implementations provided work on MacOS X as well as any
platform that supports pthreads.
- OS: Includes some platform-specific code for getting the current time.
Implementations provided work on MacOS X as well as any platform that
supports gettimeofday.
- Socket: This class is C++ wrapper for the sockets API. On MacOS X, this
class uses a set of APIs collectively called the Event Queue for receiving
events from sockets in non-blocking mode. For other platforms, an
implementation of the Event Queue APIs using select() has been provided in
ev.cpp. For more details on the Event Queue, see "What is the Event
Queue?" in the FAQ section.

PPWizard, Free generic preprocessor (html/rexx/ipf/inf/ipfc)
Generic preprocessor with specific support for HTML and rexx. Includes
external files and supplies usual #define, #include, #if, #ifdef etc as
well as many others such as #import to import data from databases. Can
import SQL. Text to HTML. Its syntax is very simple yet the tool is very
powerful. It is extendable using rexx, for example "#if GetEnv("FRED") ==
substr(Var, 2)". Macros support parameters and conditional logic. Create
FTP like pages from dir trees (or WPS URL objects), validate generated
HTML or rexx, automatically create thumbnails, photo albums. Spell check.
HTML example inclusion from file with automatic tagging. As this tool is
basically a "Super SSI" there is a "SSI" add-available which simplifies
migration to PPWIZARD. "OL_DOC.DH" header for creation of IPF/HTML from
common source. Looks to be handy as a XML, XSL and DTD preprocessor. Also
runs in Windows, DOS, Unix and Mac OS X.

WarpZip Update
WarpZip is now online with version 3.6
WarpZip is the latest in Zip and OS/2 "Packed" file management for the
OS/2 Warp family. Beneath WarpZip's stunning interface lie revolutionary
and powerful functions that will save both time and effort and boost your
productivity.
WarpZip comes fully functional for your evaluation. The installation
program lets you decide where files go and writes it's own uninstallation
script for you at that time. It will not leave files behind after an
uninstall unless you want it to.
The new WarpZip v3.6 is available for download and evaluation from the
PillarSoft website.
OTHER NOTES
We have had quite a bit of trouble with our website and email delivery
since our providers server changes a few months ago. After a lengthy
battle with Network Solutions, we have finally gotten our other
nameserver updated and it appears that the website is working for the
half of the world that couldn't access it before. We are getting the
other half of our mail again too!
Please excuse us for any inconvenience you may have suffered in the
interim and rest assured that we are still here. :-)
We have updated the PillarSoft Suite archive with the latest version of
WarpZip (short announcement preceded this one) as well so feel free to
update from the PillarSoft website. WarpZip and most of the programs
contained in the PillarSoft Suite are available for evaluation purposes
and may be purchased via BMTMicro.com.

German NLS for XWP 0.9.20 available
Hi all.
The German NLS for XWorkplace 0.9.20 is now available as WarpIN package.
http://www.os2world.com/os2files/files/xwp-0-9-20_nls-de.exe
Sorry, still no context help and with the latest giant rework it's going
to take even longer. *hint, hint*
Christian Hennecke
WarpIN and XWorkplace 0.9.20 are out
WarpIN and XWorkplace have both been updated to V0.9.19.
1. WarpIN V0.9.20 has been released.
WarpIN is intended to become the new universal OS/2
installer. It is becoming more and more popular among
OS/2 developers because of its flexibility and ease of
use. It has full system configuration (CONFIG.SYS,
WPS classes, WPS objects) and can fully undo all the
changes to your system again.
V0.9.20 fixes a few bugs that were still in V0.9.19,
such as the XShadow breakage. In addition, this is
my first attempt at getting WarpIN to do proper CID
installs from the command line.
2. XWorkplace V0.9.20 is out also.
XWorkplace is the most feature-rich freeware Workplace
Shell enhancer on the planet, and even better, it is
OpenSource. XWorkplace is the successor to my popular
XFolder utility and has become a Netlabs project.
For details, please refer to the download address
below.
Even though V0.9.19 was pretty well received, a few
bugs were still to be fixed for V0.9.20. In addition,
I added some new icon features like lazy icon loading,
icon sharing, and shadow icons. Besides, a bunch of
cosmetic changes were made.
As usual, be reminded that this is not guaranteed to
be stable (as the version number indicates anyway).
Note: To install XWorkplace, you also need
WarpIN V0.9.14 or higher, since XWorkplace now
comes as a self-installing executable. I recommend
using at least WarpIN V0.9.16 to avoid the problem
with your existing XCenter disappearing on install.
To get the new WarpIN and XWorkplace, please go to:
WarpIN and XWorkplace are Netlabs projects, released under
the GNU General Public Licence. The source code is
available on the Netlabs CVS server. See http://www.netlabs.org/nosa/ and the above address for details.
We have created four mailing lists at groups.yahoo.com:
-- warpin-user
-- warpin-dev
-- xworkplace-user
-- xworkplace-dev
for WarpIn and XWorkplace users and developers,
respectively. HOWEVER, please note that I am currently
not able to answer a hundred messages per day. If you
want to report a bug, this is appreciated, but do not
be disappointed if you do not get an answer. And please
do not try either to mail me privately instead, that
won't change things either. Thanks for your patience.
Have fun!

New version of PMRA released
I've released several bug-fixes for PMRA (Poor Mans Roaming Access).

.41 - OS/2 version
Discovered that the relatively slow Mozilla 1.x/IBM Web Browser 1.x
browsers perform a rewrite and flush to disk of the bookmark file as
almost the last thing they do before exiting. Add the delay of the disk
cache to the already glacial execution speed of these versions and there's
a very good chance that the bookmark file won't be completely on the disk
by the time we upload it to the ftp server, which can cause all sorts of
peculiar issues. So I added a brute-force 30 second delay between the exit
of the browser and the start of the upload stage. When I get time I'll
see about doing something more elegant that takes less than 30 seconds,
but this will do for now.
.046W - Windows version
Same as above, plus several changes so that if windows should crash while
your browser is running there's a better chance that your bookmark file
won't be lost.

Less then two months to Warpstock
There's just 30 days until the Early Bird Registration Ends. Register now
for Warpstock 2002 before the deadline! We've posted most of our speaker
schedule on line and we're scouring Austin for a great place to hang on
Saturday night. Visit our eStore http://bamart.com/Warpstockinc to use
your Visa/Mastercard to make a secure purchase without the extra fees that
Paypal or Billpoint can charge.
If you look at our schedule, http://www.warpstock.org/2002/presentations.html, you'll see that this
year's Warpstock has some surprises in store for you. What will "The
Miracle" actually be? A video DVD player? Extended service for the OS/2
user? A cell phone that runs OS/2 rather than Windows or Palm OS? OS/2's
Open Sourcing by IBM? Full compatibility with MS Office XP? OS/2 running
on a 64-bit processor? Whatever "The Miracle" is, Warpstock attendees will
be the first to know. If you don't believe in Miracles, then you should be
attending our other sessions where you will be able to see the latest
demonstrations of NetLabs and Innotek's products for OS/2, and other
great products for network and enterprise management from Golden Code and
Starfire. Use eCS? Kim and Bob are going to be telling us all about what's
in store for the next release of eCS.
Warpstock is the best place to find out what is going on with OS/2 and to
meet and talk with all the people you have only met online. If you have
not attended Warpstock in the past, this is the year you should make
every effort to attend.
Warpstock 2002 will be held the weekend of October 5th and 6th, at the
Renaissance Austin Hotel in Austin Texas. Austin is the home of the IBM
OS/2 development group, so many of the people that work on and support
OS/2 will be in attendance and giving presentations this year.
A special conference rate of $129 for single/double room night is
available to those who use the "Warpstock 2002" event code when making
reservations. This rate is good for up to 3 days prior and 3 days after
the event weekend. The Warpstock room block is only guaranteed until
September 13th though, so please don't delay. You can make reservations
by calling 1-800-HOTELS-1 (1-800-228-9290) or direct at 1-512-343-2620.
Early registration for both days will be $70. This price is valid until 4
weeks prior to the event. After September 7th, registration will be $95
for the two day conference. A one day price of $70 is also available.
But by registering early you get both Warp packed days for the price of a
one day admission.
You can register online at http://bamart.com/Warpstockinc
