On hobbes today there are two packages. One is ( 823xac97.zip ) MMPM/2
AC'97 sound driver for VIA Technologies KT266A/333/400/600, P4M266 and
P4X266/333/400/533 (8233/8233C/8233A/8235/8237 south bridge). Supports
IOCTL90 mixer, software resampling for low-end chips and an experimental
multistream mode.

The other ( 823x_add.zip ) contains "Additional items for VT823x MMPM/2
driver: updated LBMix, diagnostics utility, startup sound driver, debug
version and complete source code."

"J Window" popup menu (Click 2 times on a drive calls this menu).
From this window style, each option except Cdcopy prompt you for a
path where files are supposed to be

RATIONALE: comp.os.os2.ecomstation

The newsgroup 'comp.os.os2.ecomstation' would be a forum for discussing
issues related to the use of the eComStation operating system, a licensed
version of IBM's OS/2 from Serenity Systems Intl.

Currently, the comp.os.os2.* newsgroups are used as a resource for asking
and answering questions regarding all OS/2 versions, including
eComStation. OS/2 is the major operating system upon which eComStation is
based, however eComStation has gained sufficient interest to support its
own newsgroup.

In addition, the general audience for questions regarding eComStation and
Serenity Systems differ from the audience interested in general IBM OS/2
questions. Therefore, it seems appropriate for eComStation to gain its own
newsgroup for eComStation-specific questions.

While several unmoderated online fora dedicated to eComStation do exist
and have a large amount of traffic, experience shows that the lack of a
unified forum hampers the development of a decent discussion.

The only other unmoderated newsgroups that offers some room for such
discussions today are in comp.os.os2.*. However, eComStation differs
significantly enough from the base OS/2 that discussions regarding it may
not be relevant at all to the general OS/2 user. Discussions involving
eComStation have comprised a significant portion of the traffic in the
comp.os.os2 hierarchy to the point where it may be distracting for the
eComStation user and general OS/2 user alike.

The separation of eComStation issues from general comp.os.os2.* topics
will hence avoid user confusion and avoid disagreement on the general
relevance of eComStation in relation to OS/2 which was felt to be
unsatisfactory by all parties.

CHARTER: comp.os.os2.ecomstation

comp.os.os2.ecomstation is an unmoderated newsgroup for discussion of the
eComStation operating system and related technologies.

Appropriate discussion in the group will involve eComStation and other
eComStation-related products (including Serenity Virtual Station.) Some
examples of topics that should be posted to comp.os.os2.ecomstation:

- General questions regarding the installation and operation of
eComStation
- Questions regarding eComStation specific programming
- Discussion of eComStation related technologies
- Questions regarding application software and hardware support
- eComStation user advocacy and debate

Posting guidelines:

1) Posts must be related to the discussion of eComStation, which includes
all the modern aspects of operating eComStation as well as related
topics, but excludes general OS/2 topics, unless a direct relevance to
eComStation can be made explicit. Topics which are relevant to the
broader audience of OS/2 users may be better received in the
appropriate general category OS/2 group. Original and interesting

Mr. Message for OS/2 is an instant messenger client which is capable of
communicating over AOL's Instant Messenger network using the OSCAR
protocol (used in the Win32 AIM clients, jBuddy, gAIM, Kopete, ICQ, and
a variety of other clients).

It has been updated with the following changes:
* Added the ability to choose a different Oscar login server and port.
Edit your session entries from the Session Manager to change this.
* Removed chat support from the capabilities list reported to servers
until chat support is actually implemented (cures a crash when
someone attempts to invite you to a chat).
* Added the ability to set your client profile message. The user will
be able to enter their own profile in the next release.
* Added the ability to set your status to Away. The user will be able
to enter their own away messages in the next release.
* Fixed a potential infinite loop in the user information parser if
some bad or strange user information is received from the server.
* Fixed playing the "new arrival" sound effect when a user changes
from away status to active (this was only intended for users that
newly
signed on).

frequently.

Sorry, I made a mistake here. The correct file name is weasel171.zip, not
weasel1704.zip. To avoid confusing everyone, I have now moved the older
file to a subdirectory called "old".

they will provide support for the ISSI servers, ensuring that all CIRATS

Applicants need to be aware that most distributions occur late evening on
Saturdays and reports are required Sunday morning. The team and will
work with the resources to provide time off during week to keep OT at
minimum.

1.71. The list of changes (see below) is rather long, but in fact these
are all minor changes that have accumulated over the last couple of
months.

That last item is not yet ready for production use, it's merely a preview
of what I'm planning to add to Weasel Pro once I get the bugs out.

Weasel Setup currently supports English, French, and Dutch, but it's
supplied in such a way that it's easy to add your own language file.

Implemented the obsolete (and deprecated) POP3
command LAST, for the benefit of users such as
Yahoo who are still using obsolete POP clients.
Filenames for incoming mail now chosen in a way that

LoadINI and DumpINI now load/dump all domains in

default domain name kept being re-created.
Option to change the length of time we continue to
attempt to send outgoing mail.
Setup notebook changed to new style.
Allow user%domain as another acceptable POP login
username.

This package supplies the required REXX scripts, to allow PMMail to use
the BogoFilter package (available for separate download, from HOBBES).
BogoFilter is a Bayesian filter program. There is the main script, which
causes incoming mail to be scanned by BogoFilter, which evaluates the
words, to determine if the e-mail is SPAM, or not. It then adds a line in
the header, which indicates the results of the evaluation. From that
information, a PMMail filter can separate the SPAM into a folder (or the
TRASH, if you prefer). Two other filters (or, with PMMail 1.96a, a
separate training program) call the REXX scripts to train BogoFilter to
recognize e-mail that was not evaluated as SPAM, to be rcognized as SPAM,
and to train it to NOT recognize it as SPAM, if it was erroneously
evaluated as being SPAM. NEW: Reinstated some dropped fixes. Fixed, so
that BogoFilter-0.92.4.ZIP is REQUIRED for an OS/2 version with the 32 bit
TCP/IP stack installed, and BogoFilter-0.15.3.2.ZIP is required if it is
not. Fixed a WarpIn database error, for which version of BogoFilter is

Runs on: OS/2, or eComStation, and PMMail v2.x (tested on v 2.20.2382)

It appears there is a problem that may result in the termination of the
venerable, old OS2-L discussion mailing list. If anyone is interested and
can help to maintain the list please conatct the server provider (removing
the DESPAM first of course).

for a couple of months i'm receiving bounces from the current listowner of
both lists (spider@seds.org).

because of our policy, a discussion list without a listowner
is not allowed. if you are familiar with list-management of
LISTSERV based discussion lists, please contact me (otherwise please
don't).

if there will be no new owner within the next 2 weeks, i fear i have to
delete both lists.

I just wanted to report this, because it is a GREAT SUCCESS! I have been
trying for several months to get my USB key working under OS/2. If you
look at a recent thread regarding USB memory sticks in this forum, you
can see I have been trying EVERY possible solution without success.

A few days ago Martin Kiewitz posted his MMPORTS package to hobbes, which
is a way to transfer files to/from an USB-enabled CASIO watch.

The package contains, amongst other files, an updates USBD.SYS, which
uses a different hw detection scheme than the one used by IBM. More
precisely: it uses the detection scheme used by M$ drivers (which - guess
what? - is nonstandard).

Once I put this updated USBD.SYS on my system and rebooted, suddenly eCS
1.1 (with the latest IBM USB drivers) recognized the device and attached
it to a drive letter. I am confident that much more USB devices can be
made to work with this updated driver. Now, if only IBM could be
convinced to use the new detection scheme....

I understand (from Martin docs) that the detection scheme used by IBM is
perfectly following the standard, so I guess they're not very happy to
change it to follow an M$ non-standard, but they could at least use a new
switch to change detection scheme at boot.

I hope other people will have success like I had.

useable stream name, as seen in *.msi installer files, it generates
filenames and tries to guess the extension like bmp, ico, cab, prg.
