New kernels on testcase (1026)
a new kernel (1026) is available on IBM testcase site , it will probably be included
in ACP2 !
ftp://testcase.boulder.ibm.com/ps/fromibm/os2/
[Moderator's note: As always these are not officially supported by IBM unless
they tell you to use them. Please send any followup to comp.os.os2.bugs on usenet.
Also note that files are only on IBM's testcase for 2-3 days, so if you want to
try these get them now. These files have been theresince Friday (10/26), so they
will probably be gone by Tuesday or Wednesday. Make certain you back up any files
replaced and don't try these on a production system. You have been warned. ]
GOSiERRA v2 available
New GOSiERRA is available.
GoSierra is a "magical" patcher software, that will get your old Sierra/Dynamix
games back to work using Soundblaster sound.
Under v2, there is new support for Dynamix games as "Betrayal at Krondor",
"The Incredible Machine" and many more. Nearly EVERY Sierra/Dynamix Realmode
game should be patchable.
Patched games work perfectly under OS/2 Warp / eComStation VDM-MDOS-Box.
GoSierra can be downloaded from os2world.com/games or hobbes (look for GOSiERRAv2.zip).

RexxMail updated to build 20011027.124412 (BUGFIX).
Build 20011027.124412 of RexxMail is now available from: http://www.degeus.com/rexx/
This build fixes a serious bug in the build I released yesterday (itself a bugfix
release -- I know, this just isn't my week):
A misnamed procedure could -- of course -- not be found, causing the 'dispatch'
and 'send' commands to fail if the internal SMTP module was used.
If you have installed the previous build, please download the new build and upgrade
RexxMail to remove the bug.
This bug was the result of a pretty silly oversight, added to which I forgot
to test the SMTP module (which I normally do not use myself). My apologies for the
inconvenience, and thanks to Michiel de Jager for alerting me to this bug.

RexxMail updated to build 20011026.160310 (BUGFIX).
Build 20011026.160310 of RexxMail is now available from: http://www.degeus.com/rexx/
This build fixes a bug in the build I released yesterday (if the JunkMail* settings
are missing from the configuraton file, 'register' commands will fail).
If you have installed the previous build, please download the new build and upgrade
RexxMail to remove the bug.
My apologies for the inconvenience.
The new build also adds an icon for the 'Help' program object, which I failed
to include in the previous build. (BTW, if anyone feels inclined to give the RexxMail
icons a -- much-needed -- facelift, please let me know. I would dearly love to be
able to offer better-looking icons, but I simply haven't the time to rework them
myself.)

Only One Week to Warpstock Europe 2001
The third edition of Warpstock Europe will take place in only one week time.
If you still haven't registered for the event, it is now time to do so. On-line
registration is still available at the Mensys web site, but will end on October
28th 2001. For those who do not want to use a credit card for on-line payments,
on-site registration will also be available at the Warpstock Europe registration
desk. Still, the Event Team would like to ask attendees, including students and
HCC members, to register when they can, because knowing how many people will attend
will help us with the preparations.
To register for Warpstock Europe and buy your tickets on-line, go to the Mensys
web site at : http://shop.mensys.nl/catalogue/mns_WarpStockEurope2001.html
Apart from any potential last-minute modifications, the Warpstock Europe three-day
presentation schedule has finally reached its final state. To get an overview of
the complete program schedule, go to : http://warpstock.os2.org/en/program
On the Exhibitors page at http://warpstock.os2.org/en/exhibitors
, all exhibiting companies at the conference are announced. Just one obvious highlight
will be the presentation of Virtual PC for OS/2 by Innotek, but there will be a
lot more going on at Warpstock Europe 2001 : Mensys will be there to demonstrate
eComStation 1.0, Starfire will demonstrate their Starfire Titan product and Golden
Code Development will show off their amazing new trace suite. Besides exhibits and
presentations, there will be a number of workshops were attendees can get hands-on
practice with some of the above mentioned products. Of course, The OS/2 Netlabs
will be well presented at Warpstock Europe and ready to show you a number of exciting
new software projects for OS/2 and eComStation.
As has been announced earlier, thanks to HCC sponsorship, all HCC members are
given free entrance to the event upon display of their current HCC membership card.
In addition, all students will benefit from a substantial discount, even when registering
on site, upon display of their current student ID card. All registrations will include
a complementary CD-ROM containing conference presentation papers and lectures.
The Warpstock Europe Social Event, which will take place on Saturday November
3, will require a separate registration. One price only for everyone, including
students and HCC members : 300 BEF, including snacks and live music through the
night. Of course, a selection of excellent Belgian beers will be available at the
bar.
During the three days of Warpstock Europe, the restaurant on the event site will
be open for drinks (coffee, soft drinks, ...) and every day at noon a 3-course lunch
will be offered to attendees at a reasonable price. Restaurant tickets can be bought
at the registration desk on site.
All on-site payments should be made preferably using Belgian Francs.
Upon arrival at the KHLim conference site, attendees are requested to check in
at the registration table to fill out a registration form. The provided data will
be used to keep track of attendee numbers, and not for any commercial mass mailings.
These registration forms will be available in the Dutch, French, German and English
language. Upon registration, every attendee will receive a personalized badge which
will give access to the conference rooms and the exhibit hall during the event.
The Event Team would also like to mention that the KH Limburg site is accessible
for wheelchairs, with some space in all conference rooms and elevators. If you need
these facilities, please contact us to discuss details and parking arrangements.
The Warpstock Europe 2001 Conference will be held on November 2-4, 2001 at the
'KH Limburg' College in Diepenbeek (Hasselt), Belgium. Warpstock Europe is an annual
gathering of developers, vendors and users of the OS/2 and eComStation operating
systems, for the purpose of education, providing information and support to everyone
with an interest in these operating systems or related technology. More information
is available at the Warpstock Europe web site http://warpstock.os2.org

RexxMail updated to build 20011025.141040.
Build 20011025.141040 of RexxMail is now available from: http://www.degeus.com/rexx/
Major changes in this edition of RexxMail include:
- Support for JunkSpy-style junk mail filtering
- Support for Chris Wohlgemuth's CWMailFileClass
- Attachment indicators in message object icons
- Additional options for message object titles
- Mail folder redirection for incoming messages
- Text type matching for mail folder redirection files
Junk mail filters like JunkSpy scan incoming mail messages for predefined header
and body content to determine their trash level. If the trash level is found to
be over the limit, a signalling line can be added to the message header. RexxMail
can now be configured to detect such header lines and take appropriate action.
Chris Wohlgemuth's CWMailFileclass adds folder content sorting by message date,
sender, recipient (to:/cc:/bcc:), or subject, as well as attachment flagging. This
elegant add-on will soon be ready for public release, and will then be included
in a new build of RexxMail.
RexxMail now shows the presence of attachments by adding a small folder image
to message object icons. In addition, object titles now include keywords, and 'cc:'
and 'bcc:' title entries can be included on separate lines.
In addition to the two existing mail redirection files ('mailread.txt' and 'mailsent.txt'),
a new redirection file, 'mailregd.txt', enables RexxMail to redirect incoming mail
to user-defined folders (or to delete it) the moment it is received. The redirection
function has been enhanced with the addition of text type matching for redirection
file entries: a leading '>' indicates a recipient address, '
<' a sender address, and '=' a subject
keyword.
From the RexxMail readme.txt file:
RexxMail provides an extremely flexible yet easy to use e-mail processing environment
with a minimum of fuss. It operates through elements provided by the standard OS/2
Workplace Shell (which is still the best graphical user interface available on any
platform). Since the RexxMail user interface consists of normal WPS folders and
program and file objects, getting to know the program requires only a minimum of
effort.
Although the standard way of working with RexxMail is through the WPS by manipulating
WPS objects, RexxMail is a straightforward Classic REXX program that runs, like
any REXX program, from a command line in a (hidden) windowed or full-screen OS/2
command processor session. Since all RexxMail operations are controlled by command-line
switches, the full range of RexxMail functions and settings can also be accessed
from a command line.
RexxMail is written in REXX, an interpreted language, so it is also its own source
code, ready for you to edit to suit your preferences.
RexxMail is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, see http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html
