"Gates undaunted by Linux
By Paul Krill October 01, 2004
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Microsoft (Profile, Products, Articles) Chairman
and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates, during an appearance here Friday
at the Computer History Museum, expressed no fear of Linux usurping
Windows in the software industry..."
""Microsoft has had clear competitors in the past. It's a good thing we
have museums to document that," said Gates, eliciting laughter from the
audience at the museum. "I'm not saying, 'This computer will go away,' but
OS/2 was supposed to kill us."
IBM (Profile, Products, Articles), with 10 times the number of employees
as Microsoft, could not stop Windows with OS/2, he noted..."

People should now be able to subscribe to this new Usenet group, but you
may have to request that your ISP carry it.

Yes. The newgroup control message was sent yesterday afternoon (and will
be followed up with booster messages today, a week from yesterday, and a
month from yesterday).

NpWrap is a binary loader for Win32 plugins: it allows native OS/2
browsers to load and execute Win32 plugins on the fly, without converting
them. To allow loading and execution, a working Odin
(http://odin.netlabs.org) must be installed and working.
The dump tool will allow you to wrap an existing plugin and make it
visible to your browser.
Since this is a binary wrapper, only the OS/2 native code is shipped: you
must already have the necessary files or operating systems to install and
use your plugins.
THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT FREEWARE!
The code will stop working on 31 October 2004.
Please post help requests on comp.os.os2.apps.

Superversion is a multi-user distributed version control system based on
change sets. A major focus in its development is efficiency and
ease-of-use. Features include a graphical user interface, branches,
conflict detection and resolution, a history tree view, export and report
functions, CVS-compatible keyword substitution, overridable file type
autodetection and a transactional internal database.
This release is the first that is a suitable replacement for CVS. There
are now four different user privilege levels, ranging from Visitor to
Administrator. Markers are now synchronized between server and client.
Closing the Server GUI window no longer stops the server. A redirect
function makes it possible to relocate a server without having to inform
the clients. Numerous UI quirks were corrected.
SuperVersion runs perfectly on OS/2 and is used here daily for all my
development work.
