Our web master is in the process of settling into his new house after a
cross country move and hasn't yet gotten back on the internet yet, so
things are taking a bit longer to get up on the web site. It may be a
while until the presentations are up, but I have started uploading some
photos. Its not quite done yet, as I still have the photos from the
Saturday Night Social (what a great event that was) and pictures from
Sunday as well to add. Hopefully I will get to finish that this weekend.

Serenity Systems International (SSI) has announced the release of their
Serenity Virtual Station(tm), SVISTA(tm), family of virtual machine
products, http://www.serenity-systems.com . This is the latest entry into
the hot field of virtual machine software which allows users to run
multiple operating systems on their PC. A field dominated by VMWare(r) and
Microsoft's Virtual PC(r).
"I have a lot of respect for the market leaders. But we have a value
proposition which allows us to compete. Part of our strategy is to go into
areas not well served by other products", according to Bob St.John,
Director of Business Development for SSI. "For example, some Citrix(r)
users have tested the product and found it to be surprisingly responsive
in that environment.
This opens the door for organizations running Citrix on thin clients to

complete desktop, including the complete operating system, applications

What allows SVISTA to be so Citrix friendly is the relatively small
hardware footprint required. This is combined with an architecture which
allows multiple VMs to run on the same hardware while providing a
responsive desktop to the user. This has some value to every user but it
makes SVISTA especially useful in shared environments, like Citrix and
Linux Terminal Services .
In fact, the greatest interest in SVISTA has focused on its support for
Linux Terminal Services. Likely because this provides these users with
support for Windows and other non-Linux applications. "There is a very

On IBM's Testcase FTP site there is a driver package for the Adaptec
Ultra320 Family SCSI Devices.
The following Adaptec SCSI Host Adapters are supported by the Adaptec
Ultra320 OS/2 Device Driver. The Reados2.htm file lists the following
devices supported:
AIC-7901, AIC-7902, ASC29320LP, ASC29320ALP, ASC39320A
The readme also states "The AICU320.ADD Ultra320 SCSI driver only supports
OS/2 Warp Server for e-business."

Keep in mind this is on IBM's Testcase server so it is not supported by
IBM unless they tell you to download it. Also items on this server only
remain for 3 days or so and are then removed.

I am pleased to announce availability of NVU version 0.50, compiled for
OS/2, from the webpage in my signature

reload the frame to get the new content). NVU (pronounced N-view) is the
next generation Mozilla webpage composer, developed mainly be Daniel
Glazman with support by Linspire. Since 0.41 it got a few new nice
features like syntax highlighting in source view. I also uploaded a file
I created from the translation effort of Thorsten Fritz and that can be
used to get a German language version.
Btw, version 0.41 was downloaded 310 times from my page, exceeding even
Mozilla 1.7.3! Have fun with the new version!

Hi folks. I've been doing some REXX hacking lately and made some
modifications to the standard PLAY.CMD script that IBM ships with MMOS/2.
After installing Timidity_MCD, I found that playing too many files with
the current PLAY.CMD script resulted in losing my sound on the system and
hanging the script. It turns out that the current version of PLAY doesn't
free up all of its resources in all cases. I believe I've fixed this
problem, in addition to adding other capabilities.
My version of PLAY supports a play list (file containing a list of media
clips to play), and is capable of randomizing them. It can be
interrupted cleanly with CTRL-Break and can even recover the audio device
in some cases from an errant REXX script if something goes wrong.
I figured I'd put it out there in case anyone else found it useful. You

I have added an installation program to the RexxSeek distribution,
RxSkInst.CMD, which can be used to create some sample program objects for
RexxSeek.

RexxSeek is a replacement program for PMseek, the file and text search
utility provided with OS/2. Unlike PMseek, RexxSeek can handle filenames
containing blank spaces. In addition, it can be called from a command
line. RexxSeek can look for (partial) file names, or for (plain) text
content in files. For every file it finds, it will create a shadow or a
(user-defined) program object in the results folder. During the search,
the title of the results folder is continously updated to reflect the
search status. If a folder named RexxSeek.FLD is placed in the RexxSeek
program directory, RexxSeek will use it as a template for the results
folder. A target folder may be specified in which to place the results
folder (if none is specified, the results folder will be placed on the
desktop). RexxSeek includes a "bare" option to run it without creating the
results folder and objects.
