[WarpCast] SmartSuite testers get FP3se, not FP4se - 11/02/97 |
------------------------------ WarpCast ------------------------------ Source: Anonymous --- (** Moderator's note: The following is in reference to the WarpCast message 'Rumors from WarpX', on November 2nd **) A source reports that SmartSuite for OS/2 Warp 4 testers will not receive a copy of FixPak 4 special edition with their testing materials as WarpX had heard, but will instead get a copy of FixPak 3 special edition. Apparently FixPak 4 SE does exist, but Lotus only received a copy of it just before they had sent beta testing CDs to production, so they didn't have the chance to test with FixPak 4. According to one Lotus rep: "We're requiring a "Special Edition" FixPak because IBM's standard service stream (OS/2 Warp 4 FixPaks) does not yet contain the Open32 updates required to support the SmartSuite for OS/2 Warp 4 applications which are currently under development -- and we're using FixPak 3 because we just received an edition of FixPak 4 with the required Open32 updates and did not have time to adequately test and certify the Beta Release applications on the Lotus internal "Special Edition" of FixPak 4 before sending the Beta Release (which went Gold today) to manufacturing (which is scheduled to begin later this week). IBM PSP will "sync-up" their service stream with the "Special Edition" FixPaks we're releasing (for our Alpha and Beta releases) and provide the required Open32 updates in the standard OS/2 Warp 4 FixPak released at the time SmartSuite for OS/2 Warp 4 ships." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.os2ezine.com/warpcast/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
