[WarpCast] Opera Browser Update - 11/06/97 |
------------------------------ WarpCast ------------------------------ Source: Loren Bandiera, http://catbert.istar.ca/os2/ Reply-to: lorenb@inforamp.net --- [11/05/97] - Opera Browser Update Opera Software (http://www.operasoftware.com/) has updated their Project Magic (http://www.operasoftware.com/alt_os.html) page. OS/2 is closing in on 800 pledges (the Mac is still ahead with 900) there are still 4 weeks left, so if you are interested in another browser for OS/2, let them know. There is some more good news, and I quote: "As you can gather, we are very pleased with your response to Project Magic, and although we haven't reached the 'target' of 3000 pre-orders yet (after three out of seven weeks), it is almost certain that the work on a Mac and OS/2 version will commence shortly, whereas we would need more support and interest from the Linux/X11 and BeOS community in order to make these a viable commercial and sustainable alternative." (** Moderator's note: Project Magic is an attempt to gauge the amount of interest for versions of the Opera web browser for non-Windows platforms, including OS/2. If Opera receives enough notes from people desiring an OS/2 version, they'll build one. **) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.os2ezine.com/warpcast/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
