[WarpCast] DTCWeb, Desktop Communications' Web Site, now online - 11/22/97 |
------------------------------ WarpCast ------------------------------ Source: Christopher B. Wright Reply-to: wrightc@dtcweb.com --- Announce: DTCWeb, Desktop Communications' Web Site, now online Desktop Communications, an information provider for the OS/2 publishing community, is pleased to announce its website, DTCWeb (http://www.dtcweb.com). DTCWeb is an on-line resource for the "OS/2 Computer Publishing Platform" ("OS/2CPP"). It will contain reviews of and links to OS/2 and OS/2-compatible software in the Desktop Publishing, Graphics Design, Multimedia Authoring and Web Creation markets. Although still in its infancy, over the following months DTCWeb will host the following features: PROJECT:TOOLBASE (P:TB), an online repository of information about OS/2 native and OS/2 compatible publishing software and hardware. Ultimately this will be an interactive database, for the moment it is static HTML code. Currently, the only active section lists available publishing software for OS/2 (this is still under construction). Expect to see software and hardware reviews posted after the Thanksgiving holiday. PROJECT:MEDIABASE (P:MB), a resource for ISVs who want to tell the press about their products. P:MB will be a list of official contacts that ISVs can get in touch with to set up reviews, send announcements to, etc. This feature is a future project and is not yet available on the site. THE KILLER FONTS LIST: Warp 4 has an interesting problem: some Postscript and TrueType fonts can cause it to crash. The Killer Fonts List is an attempt to identify these fonts (name, where they come from, etc.) so you'll know not to even bother with them. MEDIAX: Media X will be a downloadable multimedia magazine covering the OS/2 Computer Publishing Platform. It will be authored in NeoN Storybook and available monthly (though it may start out every other month while things get sorted out). While DTCWeb only has the beginnings of Project:ToolBase up and running at the moment, this site is still being developed and more content will be provided after the Thanksgiving Holiday (that's after next week for those of you not in the United States).
