[WarpCast] Project Magic - November 21 update - 11/22/97 |
------------------------------ WarpCast ------------------------------ Source: Opera Software, http://www.operasoftware.com Reply-to: os2@operasoftware.com --- 'Project Magic' is an effort being made by Opera Software to gauge the level of support for versions of their popular Windows web browser 'Opera' on other platforms, OS/2 included. Originally Opera had stated that they would produce other platform versions of Opera if the number of people asking for it topped 3000 requests, but they've since revealed that required numbers for production is considerably less -- 1000 requests. ("Norway then said to me hours before I got started, they wanted 1000 orders each until the end of November, so you see we're already there with Mac and OS/2" -- http://www.operasoftware.com/pm_follow.txt) As of November 21st, the graph on Opera's Project Magic page shows the number of OS/2 requests to be hovering at about 1100, above the desired number for production. Things look bright for an OS/2 version of Opera. For full details, see the November 21st comments at the bottom of Opera's Project Magic page: http://www.operasoftware.com/alt_os.html If you'd like to try out Opera and see what the fuss is about, download the latest Windows 3.1 version and run it in a WinOS2 session to get a feel for the browser. If you like what you see and haven't shown your support for the idea already, feel free to email os2@operasoftware.com and let them know you'd buy an OS/2 version if it became available. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.os2ezine.com/warpcast/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
