I have recently updated my BACKDASD software which allows the fast backup and restore (and creation) of these limits. WARP Server includes a facility to set directory quotas but no tools to backup and restore these limits. On a large system with say 4,000 limits this is important so the BACKDASD utilities are freely available from: - The lan subdirectory of Hobbes - FTP://ftp.henleycol.ac.uk pub/software - HTTP://www.lanicu.com (select LAN Server link). The backup process, BACKDASD, can be scheduled (using the AT command for example) and should be run just prior to your regular backup software. The restore process, RESTDASD, takes the output file produced from BACKDASD and recreates the limits and quota information. BACKDASD and RESTDASD work in a similar way to the WARP Server BACKACC and RESTACC commands, and have been tested extensively. Previous versions only allowed upto 1,600 disk limits per disk, the software now has no upper limit (using the new HUGE option) and, as long as system memory is available, will cope with any sized disk (i.e. 25,000 disk directory limits are no problem - which otherwise the administrator would have to restore manually, one-by-one!!) On the basis that the software is free it is supplied without any warranties and is used entirely at your own risk. However, support is available via e-mail from me at ssha@henleycol.ac.uk.
