Thus Java applets, applications and servlets may be written, using the familiar and human-oriented syntax of Rexx, in a graphically managed environment. Included in the alpha release are an editor, interface to the NetRexx compiler and project and category tree views for grouping of source code. Additional tools such as a Class Designer, GUI Layout tool, Debugger and Hierarchy Browser are in the wings. VisualNetRexx speeds the development of applications written for Java, in NetRexx, by providing a comfortable framework and toolset for developers. VisualNetRexx will run on any platform supporting Java 1.1.2 or higher, although 1.1.5 is recommended. OS/2's JDK 1.1.4 has been tested as both a development and a target environment for the product. VisualNetRexx uses the Swing subset of the Java Foundation Classes for cross-platform GUI presentation and the NetRexx compiler for ease of development.
