Re: [WarpCast] Interview with IBM - your input requested! - 4/03/98 |
Hi, apart from the fact that IBM needs to use a couple of lakes full of ice-cold water to dunk their marketing department (does it even exist???) in them so those people will finally wake up, here's what I think - in addition to ideas expressed elsewhere and by others: - True PnP support; I have an excellent non-SB PnP soundcard which Warp 4 simply won't recognize by itself. - Much better overall multimedia support. - Games, games, games, and more games. - Encourage and _support_ small to medium ISVs to make native OS/2 applications for SOHO users. - Support SOHO users - there's a hell of a lot of us folks out here, and we don't like being left out in the rain. - OS/2 will _have_ to provide support for new hardware much faster than it does at present. - Maybe an 'entirely new' file system - along the lines of UNIX; do away with those dumb and actually useless drive letters. - Make installation a simple, single-step process that's as close to 'idiot-proof' as humanly possible. - Quit staring at what M$ does - do your own thing, but for heaven's sake do it better than those folks. BTW, I personally don't care whether or not OS/2 will ever support win32 applications - I _won't_ use software from those people - but there are a lot of people out there who are interested in WinDoze games. Therefore, IBM needs to truly encourage and support the makers of games to _also_ make OS/2 versions. >Ok everyone, here is your chance. > >Somehow, the 'IBM Executive Office' contacted me and wants to >'discuss my concerns with OS/2'. Since this is occuring some time >next week, I thought that I would give you all a chance to send me >_your_ concerns, and what you think IBM should do with OS/2.
