(For those unaware, Lotus is offering all OS/2 users who registered a copy of SmartSuite '96 for OS/2 before a certain date to get a free upgrade to the new SmartSuite for Warp 4) *** I had a rather long chat with a Lotus customer service rep who told me that the free upgrades for Lotus Smartsuite for Warp 4 have been delayed. He acknowledged that this was a Lotus problem, and that they are well aware of the frustrations and disappointment of their customers. I presume this affects everyone who purchased Smartsuite'96 before the free upgrade deadline expired, which I think is April 30, 1997 (but I did not ask the rep. to confirm this date). All entitled owners will receive a postcard from Lotus indicating that they are eligible. If you do not receive a postcard "in the next few weeks", then contact Lotus. If you are unsure if your purchase was registered, call Lotus registration and find out. They have all the registrations on record and were able to tell me that my copies were eligible for the upgrade. The problem seems to be a carryover of the upgrade for Windows; they did not handle that upgrade well, and they do not want to make the same mistakes with the OS/2 product, so the whole upgrade system is being redesigned.
