The next meeting of the Southern California OS/2 User Group
(SCOUG) will be this coming Saturday, August 15, at 9 AM PDT, at the
IBM facility at 600 Anton Bl., Costa Mesa, on the 2nd floor.

See Spot Run! Rover's Coming to SCOUG!

Orange Hill Software's Stan Shantar will be unveiling a new version
of his system organization utility, code-named "Rover". Rover, which
takes the concept of OS/2 Workplace Shell utilities one step beyond,
is slated for release in September. SCOUG members will have an
exclusive opportunity to see how Stan has extended the functionality
of the Workplace Shell for all of us.

Stan's presentations are always full of surprises, so join us as he takes
OS/2 to new heights. Be sure to bring an oxygen mask!
After the presentation, we'll have a raffle, Q&A, and then:

General Interest Group - will give you lots of good information.

Programming SIG - will continue development of their FTP server by
examining any implications of using Java as the environment for it.
They will also continue their on-going exercise designing this program.

Monday, Aug 17th, 7 PM PDT at the OCIPUG Resource Center:

Internet SIG - will look at the beta of Netscape Communicator 4.04 for
OS/2. They'll work on getting video teleconferencing running and plan
SIG activities for the Open House on Sept. 19th. As always, they'll discuss
the latest Internet news, and "download" the best cookies anywhere.

OS/2 Help Desk - SCOUG's volunteers will be on hand to help you resolve
your difficulties with problematic hardware and software.

Tuesday, Aug 18th, 7 PM PDT at the OCIPUG Resource Center:

Networking SIG - begins Part 2 of setting up a gateway/proxy server.
July was Lotus Go Web Server; this month is a Java-based proxy
server under development by a SCOUG member. If time permits, setting
up a mail server for a small SOHO network will be explored.

When, where, and how to get there: SCOUG will be meeting on Saturday,
August 15, at 9:00 AM (PDT) at the IBM offices located in Plaza Tower,
600 Anton Bl., Costa Mesa, CA, on the 2nd floor. From I-405, exit onto
Bristol northbound (one exit NW of the I-405/Hwy 55 interchange). Turn
right on Anton Blvd (the first signal north of I-405). Go east 2
signals and turn right (you will see a TGI Fridays' on your right).
Park in the open-air lot to your left. Plaza Tower is on a diagonal
from the open-air parking lot.

For our Internet SIG, SCOUG Help Desk, and Networking SIG: They meet at
the OCIPUG Resource Center in Santa Ana. The Resource Center is located
at 1520 Brookhollow Dr., #38, just off the 55 Freeway between Dyer Rd.,
Warner Ave., and Grand Ave. in Santa Ana. Exit Dyer Rd. east to Grand
Ave. north. On the right hand side is the Brookhollow Office Park
(adjacent to the Crazy Horse Steak House). Turn right at the first
entrance.

Further information (including driving directions) can be found on the
SCOUG web page at http://www.scoug.com. The driving directions also
include maps for both the general meeting and the weeknight meetings
that you can print off as needed. We hope to see you there!

P.S. Speaking of Open House; please reserve your calendars for Sept. 19,
from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The 2nd annual SCOUG Open House will celebrate
SCOUG's 5th birthday!  If you plan to attend, please sign-up at our web site;
also, if you can volunteer to help, sign-up at our web site as well.
