InnoVal Executive Applauds Ruling in Sun vs Microsoft
Announces New Release of J Street Mailer

InnoVal Systems Solutions, Inc. president Dan Porter today
announced his unequivocal endorsement for the decision by Ronald
M. Whyte, U.S. District Judge in San Jose, California.
In a preliminary injunction, Judge Whyte gave Microsoft 90 days
to rework both its Windows 98 and its Internet Explorer browser
to make them compatible with Sun's Java specifications. The judge
also ruled that there was a strong likelihood that Sun would
prevail in a full trial in its suit against Microsoft for
copyright infringement and unfair competition.

"Today's Wall Street Journal called it a resounding victory,"
said Porter. "I agree. And I'm also delighted to see the
attention Java and OS/2 are getting in the Federal lawsuit of
Microsoft. I'm not so very confident about remedy that will
benefit the wider user community but I am pleased to see
confirmation of what we in the OS/2 and Java communities have
long believed; that Gates and company are capricious about
innovation and predatory in the marketplace."

"This is encouraging news for those of us in the OS/2 and Java
communities. My hope is that ISVs and developers will take this
news as encouragement to further develop and enhance non-Windows
specific products or to build multi-platform solutions," said
Porter. "We will. Within the next two weeks we will release a new
version of J Street Mailer. This is primarily a maintenance
release. We felt we had to do this before pursuing further
innovations. Following this release, we will work with users to
try and find a consensus on the features most needed."

"We are working in a very tightened-down market and we find that
we must start doing things differently. One thing we are doing is
eliminating telephone technical support and email technical
support beyond thirty days. It is too costly. I have a choice to
make about our resources and I would rather put money and effort
into product development and improvement as well as our
profitable consulting business. These changes in technical
support will cover all of products including Web Willy Watch,
Post Road Mailer, J Street Mailer, and Hacksaw."

InnoVal will monitor the newsgroups and participate in end-user
support as time permits.

Porter continued, "On the brighter side we have decided to offer
the J Street Mailer source code, free of charge, to any licensee
of J Street Mailer who wishes to improve the product and
distribute those improvements. My goal here is to advance the use
of Java applications and specifically the J Street Mailer.
Source. Anyone interested in obtaining the source code should
contact Marianne Roderus at innoval@ibm.net."

"We were hoping that Web Willy Watch for OS/2 would do better
than it has. The Windows version is doing very well. Regrettably,
it outsells the OS/2 version at least thirty to one. We will
likely enhance Web Willy Watch soon. When we do, we will release
OS/2 and Windows version simultaneously."

J Street Mailer is a full function Internet email client written
completely in Java. It is getting excellent reviews for its rich
function and its compatibility across all Java enabled platforms
including Windows 95/98/NT, JavaOS, OS/2, Linux, Solaris, and
AIX.
