Dear OS/2 User:

Our New Year's kick-off meeting keeps getting packed with more and more
events by the day, so I am asking you in this special reminder notice to
please be there by 6:30 pm sharp. We will start on time, we have to,
there is a LOT of material to cover.

First the basic meeting information:

Date: Wednesday, Janary 13, 1999
Time: 6:30 p.m. (Sharp)
Location: IBM Building - 590 Madison Avenue, New York, NY (Southwest
corner of 57th Street & Madison Avenue)
R.S.V.P. (please): Henry Ferlauto (dccj77c@prodigy.com)

Main Topic: Site Surfer by Devtech (http://www.devtech.com) - 100% Pure
Java program that allows you to index, map, and search any web site,
even if the web site has no such functionality. The server version of
Site Surfer lets you easily add such capabilities to your web site with
no programming involved. On sale now from Indelible Blue
(http://www.indelible-blue.com) and BMT Micro
(http://www.bmtmicro.com). Evan Bergman will show off his company's
latest technological marvel in person.

Things added so far:

+ The Aurora Video - We have a VHS Video of all the different segments
you have been watching on the web. See them with us on the big screen.
(I'm bringing two bags of Popcorn for all to enjoy. Feel free to
contribute refreshments to the group.

+ Jon Saxton's Quick Fix Demo (Confession Time: Mark Halegua and I
have no idea what the heck the Quick Fix is. But if Jon's showing it,
so has to be worth your while.)

1999 New Year's Resolutions:

+ Providing you with better service - Being that we have our new IBM
ThinkPad 600; and courtesy of Lotus Development Corporation & Michael
Steinberg - A complementary copy of Lotus SmartSuite for OS/2 Warp 4, we
are going to assemble, once and for all an accurate membership
database. From now on, at the beginning of every meeting the laptop
will be setup with Lotus Organiser running, and you will have the
opportunity to add your full contact information to the database.

+ A more professional look - For the same two reasons stated above
(Thinkpad and SmartSuite) we will now have our meeting agenda on screen,
created with Lotus Freelance Graphics.

+ A greater social atmosphere - I want our group to be as much about us
as the technology we present to you. That means making the meetings
more fun. I've started by trying to encourage people to bring food in.
Food always helps put people in a good mood. So I will continue every
chance I get ask you to please contribute in some small way; a bag of
chips, a box of cookies, a bowl fruit; please do your part and share
with everyone a little something special. Just remember we have to be
neat about everything we do, we are the guests, not the proprietors.
And any suggestions YOU have to make the meetings more fun will
certainly be entertained.

+ A bigger group effort - We want more volunteers to help make our
meetings extra special - I will present a few ideas at the meeting.

+ And of course even better more exciting topics and more meeting
segments - Also to be described at the meeting

More late breaking news! - This is a BIG teaser to wet your
appetite... We will have a very special annoucment this Wednesday. An
old friend is looking for our help. I think you will find this new
development in our community very exciting, and this will simply put a
giant smile on your face. It will be a joint project with our parent
organization, Gotham NYPC, so all NYPC members will be getting involved;
but this event is much more dear to the OS/2 Community, this I promise
you. For now I will tell you this, the truth about about computing
history is about to be debated all over again. But you have to come to
our meeting if you want to be the first to hear about it.

We hope to see you this Wednesday! --6:30 p.m. Sharp!

All the best.

Henry
