Wright (wrightc@dtcweb.com) ********************************************************************** MODERATOR'S NOTE: This was sent in from a subscriber who ran into problems with the Adaptec EZ SCSI 5.0 installation routine. I have not confirmed this because I've never had to use the EZ SCSI install program , but it seems prudent to alert the OS/2 community to any potential "showstopper" problems. ------------- This has happened to me, and hopefully will not happen to you all. The story ... If you have several partitions (or multiple drives) on your system, (with C: as WINDOWS 95/98) and you install ADAPTEC EZ SCSI 5.0, there will be a program assigning your "UNUSED??" partitions into drive letter(s). The install program will ask you to format those "UNUSED??" partitions - by this time, you're already too late trying to save them. "UNUSED??" partitions = HPFS partitions, unformatted partitions, LINUX partitions, etc. My advice - DON'T INSTALL EZ SCSI 5 AT ALL. EZ SCSI 4 did not harm my system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.warpcast.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
