Wright (wrightc@dtcweb.com) ********************************************************************** In a post in support newsgroup, people from SciTech annonuced that they are taking pre-orders for SDD/2 now, since next Alpha is not ready yet and the first one is about to expire. They also posted a list of what is changed and improved in their current build: -------------- Dear OS/2 Beta Tester, We have been working very hard on getting the next beta release of SciTech Display Doctor completed, and ready for testing. However the next release probably won't be ready for a week or so we are in the process of running our QA tests on all our new chipset drivers. Many of you who have been testing the product from the start, probably know that the 21-day trial period is about to expire. Until we get the next beta out, you will have to uninstall the product and revert back to your original display drivers. However there is another option. Later in the week we will be opening our online store for taking pre-orders of the OS/2 version of the product. You can also order the product starting tomorrow if you email/fax/phone in your order using the OS/2 order forms. You can download the order forms from: ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/sdd/order-os2.txt ftp://ftp.scitechsoft.com/sdd/order-os2.wri Due to popular demand from our international customers, we have changed the pricing structure for the OS/2 product so that you can order an electronic only version for $36.95, or order the version with disk and manual for $39.95. If you order the disk and manual, you will be sent a registration code immediately, followed by the disk and manual for the GA release of the product. So, why not show your support for SciTech's OS/2 products and pre-order your copy of SDD/2 today! New News: --------- Some of you are probably wondering what have we been working on, and what stuff has been fixed in the coming beta. Well the following partial list should satisfy your curiosity: . Added mechanism to select small or large fonts for our GRADD drivers. . Lines are now fully accelerated. The previous beta did not accelerate line drawing, which shows up in benchmark scores. . Nearly complete on the OS/2 display properties page replacement, so you can select all the cool new display modes that SDD for OS/2 provides. . Fixed the hardware cursor problem when changing from mono to color cursors, leaving the mono cursor visible on the screen. . Fixed the problem of restoring the PM desktop when coming back from fullscreen OS/2 sessions that program the hardware directly (ie: XFree86/2). . Added support for the Matrox Millenium and Millenium II. Also lots of updates and fixes for the Mystique, G100 and G200. . Lots of new full Nucleus chipset drivers coming, including ATI, Cirrus, Macronix, SiS, IGS and more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.warpcast.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
