Wright (wrightc@dtcweb.com) ********************************************************************** Bochs (an IBM 80x86 emulator) is progressing along very quickly, with more features added in every day. The creator of Bochs, Kevin Lawton, is now adding dynamic translation into the Bochs cpu core, which should give it over a 10x performance improvement over the current incarnation. Bochs/2 for OS/2 Warp, ported by Craig Ballantyne, is also getting additional features rapidly added to it. I have been speaking with Craig, and he has so far added direct printer access, floppy access, with more direct hardware access on the way, such as giving Bochs direct access to the video card. These improvements along with the dynamic translation, should give OS/2 users the ability to run Windows 95/98 fast enough for some tasks. Craig's web site is located at www.guisoft-corp.com. Bochs is available for many different platforms such as Windows, OS/2, Linux, BeOS, Macintosh 68k/PPC, and several more ports that have been written since the incarnation of Bochs. The Bochs homepage is located at www.bochs.com. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.warpcast.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
