[WarpCast] Rexx - VisPro/Rexx tips and snippets - 4/01/99 |
When you gotta have it done right now. Set, see and change the priority of your OS/2 apps for better performance. Set foreground priority, run a list with a single button and more with Priority Master II Version 2.5 Free fully functional demo available. http://www.prioritymaster.com/ ****************************** WarpCast ****************************** Source: Wayne Swanson (psoft@Tech-Center.com) Moderator: Dirk Terrell (admin@os2ss.com) ********************************************************************** In the past, I had always hoped that "someone" would establish a site that catered to the users of Rexx and VisPro/Rexx in particular. Personally, I had a lot of unanswered questions while learning Rexx and VisPro/Rexx and would like to see that rectified for new users as well as showing some of the old dogs (me?) learning a few tricks. Bernd Schemmer's terrific rexx "Tips and Tricks" covers a wealth of information on Rexx but the VisPro/Rexx user has nothing of the sort. Having been involved in quite a few ventures I knew that "someone" would never get it done if "I" (read "you too") would not get out of my easy chair and do something about it. I am a proponent of the Ask not what OS/2 can do for you, but what you can do for OS/2 line of thinking. In the OS/2 world, we can only expect our support systems to be as good as we are willing to make them. This goes beyond a Rexx page and should be part of our overall thinking toward OS/2 advocacy and support (VOICE, ng's, mailing lists etc.) but that is a subject for another day. (btw: I use the term "advocacy" here in the nicest possible connotation) The site is there to help anyone that needs help or hints using Rexx or VisPro/Rexx but it will only be as helpful as we are able to make it "collectively". I will be putting snippets on the site as time allows but what I hope for is for "you" to share your expertise with others too. None of us in particular always know the best solution to a given problem but working together we can mold top shelf snippets by "committee" that will be available to everyone. There are also many things that we can help each other with that may not have been set forth very clearly in the documentation for Rexx or VisPro/Rexx. If it grows, I will try to organize the information as best I can. I have given very little thought as to it's organization so far as I had just decided it was time to do something like this and forged ahead. The site will be limited to OS/2 and VisPro based Rexx solutions for now as I am not familiar with some of the other platform idiosyncrasies and have a finite amount of time and space to host the information. RexxLA is planning a repository and I am happy to place this in their hands as a small segment of their site if it does develop. Prospective contributors, please read the link "about this site" to see how we can make it easy on me getting your snippets posted. (there I go thinking about myself again) :-) The site is at: http://www.fm-net.com/pillarsoft/rexx/rexx.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.warpcast.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
