A free update for current users. ****************************** WarpCast ****************************** Source: Timur Tabi (Timur_Tabi@Dell.com) Moderator: Dirk Terrell (admin@os2ss.com) ********************************************************************** Every Monday and Thursday, I'll be reporting on OS/2-related items for sale on http://www.ebay.com and the comp.os.os2.marketplace newsgroup. Even if you're not thinking about buying anything OS/2 related, you might find something that catches your interested. Just search with the keyword "OS/2" and you'll find everything. As always, there are copies of OS/2 2.x, Warp 3, and Warp 4 available for sale. These items make great gifts for your Windows-using friends! A lot of people seem to be selling their copies of Lotus software, namely Freelance, Ami Pro, and 1-2-3. Since you can usually find some of these apps for sale on eBay, I'll no longer point them out. There are a few copies of Warp Server and WS Advanced available. Since the retail versions cost hundreds, if not over a thousand, dollars, this is a great way to pick up the world's best server operating system. There's even the book "Warp Admin Survival Guide" with its own copy of Warp 3. There's also LANtastic for OS/2, which is a great low-cost alternative. Other networking-related items include IBM PComm AS/400 and 3270 and IBM SystemView. There are quite a few programmer-related items available this week. IBM C Set++, Oracle Database 7.0, Borland C++ 1.5, the "OS/2 Programming Pack" (VA Java Pro 2.0, Speed Pascal/2 1.5, and CA-Realizer 2.0), and Borland C++ 2.0. Utility-wise, there's a copy of OS/2 Essentials, FaxWorks Pro, a shareware/freeware OS/2 Collection CD-ROM, NovaSTOR Backup for OS/2, Windows, and Mac (hmmm ... just what I need), and OS/2 Warp American Heritage Dictionary and the accompanying Concise Columbia Encyclopedia. These last two are a bit old bit still very useful, and they're only a dollar each (for now). For the gamer, we have GalCiv2 with Avarice Preview, and the IBM Family FunPak. On comp.os.os2.marketplace, you'll find Norton Anti-Virus and OS/2 2.0. As a personal plug, I'm also selling 20 back-issues of Game Developer Magazine on eBay. Although not technically OS/2-related, if you are a game programmer and working on OS/2, these magazines have tons of technical articles on game programmer that can be cross-platform. The Buyer's guide even lists some OS/2 game development tools (although the information is really outdated). Those of you looking to sell your OS/2 related stuff, I strongly recommend you put it on eBay and post an announcement on comp.os.os2.marketplace. If you include the word "OS/2" in the title of your description, I'll see it and include it in the next report. Make sure you use "OS/2" and not some derivative like "O S / 2" or "OS2" or "OS-2" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.warpcast.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------
