OS/2 Multimedia Madness at SCOUG... This is multimedia madness month at SCOUG. After many months of searching for just the right multimedia presentation, we've found it right here in our own backyard! SCOUG member Jerry Rash puts together OS/2 multimedia systems that do everything except boogie down Broadway, and he's agreed to share with us his OS/2 multimedia secrets. Come prepared to have your senses bathed in ecstasy, and bring a pen and paper to take notes, as Jerry performs magic for us. After the multimedia presentation we'll have Q&A to get your computer problems resolved. Then a raffle and the Saturday SIG meetings: General Interest Group - will look into several distributed computing projects: Seti@Home and RC5-64 encryption. Programming SIG - will have guest speaker Peter Skye explain all there is to know about writing device drivers for OS/2. Afterwards: No-host lunch and friendly chat at TGI Friday's across the street. Monday, June 21, 7 PM PDT meetings: On June 21st, the OS/2 Help Desk will be at Heritage Christian High School in Anaheim. Knowledgeable SCOUG volunteers will be on hand to help with Y2K issues and other hardware and software problems. In another room, the Networking SIG will have a follow-up on the WiseManager presentation made at the March 1999 general meeting, converting the peer network at Heritage Christian High School to a WiseManager thin client network environment with server administration capability. Should be fun! Thursday, June 24, 7 PM PDT meeting: The Sundial SIG finished their address/phone book project last month and will start a new DBExpert project on June 24. Join them at Heritage Christian High School for a great hands-on learning experience. When, where, and how to get there: SCOUG will be meeting on Saturday, June 19, at 9:00 AM (PDT) at the IBM offices located in Plaza Tower, 600 Anton Bl., Costa Mesa, CA, on the 2nd floor. From I-405, exit onto Bristol northbound (one exit NW of the I-405/Hwy 55 interchange). Turn right on Anton Blvd (the first signal north of I-405). Go east 2 signals and turn right (you will see a TGI Fridays' on your right, where our after-meeting lunch will be at). Park in the open-air lot to your left. Plaza Tower is on a diagonal from the open-air parking lot. For the Networking SIG & the OS/2 Help Desk on June 21, & the Sundial SIG on June 24: The Heritage Christian High School in Anaheim is at 2530 W. La Palma Ave. It is on the south side of La Palma Ave. (about 200 ft. E of Magnolia) on the property of Grace Baptist Church. There is a 2-story office building close to La Palma Ave. with the address of 2528 up near the roof. Turn in (south) there. Drive all the way to the back and park along the chain-link fence. NOTE: There is a lot of freeway construction north of the school on I-5 and the 91 freeways; some on/off ramps may be closed and/or have detours. Check the SCOUG web site for updates, and leave yourself plenty of time to find our new SIG meeting location. Further information (including driving directions) can be found on the SCOUG web site at http://www.scoug.com. The driving directions (http://www.scoug.com/directions.html) also include maps for the general meeting and the Help Desk/Networking/Sundial SIGs that you can print off as needed.
