Every Monday, I'll be reporting on OS/2-related items for sale on
http://www.ebay.com and the comp.os.os2.marketplace newsgroup. Even if
you're not thinking about buying anything OS/2 related, you might find
something that catches your interest.

A reader pointed out to me that some people's bids for used items exceeded
the cost for a new item from a retailer. For some reason, this happens too
frequently on auction sites, and it's not just with OS/2 software. In cases
where the item is no longer for sale, then it's not suprising that the bids
exceed the price of the item when it was originally purchased. However,
before you make a bid on an item, make sure that you're not paying too much.
It makes no sense to buy a used item for $30 when you can get it new for
$40. Sometimes, all it takes is a quick search with tools like
http://www.pricewatch.com to find what you're looking for.

On Yahoo! Auctions
(http://auctions.yahoo.com/27743-category-leaf.html?&alocale=1us&acc=us)
you'll see a very small listing of OS/2 software. Besides various versions
of OS/2 for sale, there is "Talk Thru for OS/2", which appears to be some
kind of cross-platform terminal emulator (e.g. VT100)

On eBay, there are several copies of OS/2 2.x, Warp 3, Warp 4, and Lotus
applications available for sale. There are also a number of OS/2 books
available.

In the software category, we have: IBM DualStor tape backup, NovaBack tape
backup, SPG: Colorworks, two copies of Drive Image 2.0, and two versions of
Communications Manager/2. There's also a combination of Warp Server 4, Warp
client 4, VAC++ 3.0, Brief for DOS and OS/2, DB2/2 2.1, TCP/IP for OS/2 2.x,
and three versions of OS/2 2.x.

For the collector, we have an embroidered IBM OS/2 OEM Software Patch, an
IBM OS/2 Logo Lapel Pin, and an OS/2 mug.

For programmers, we have three copies of IBM Visual Age C++ 3.0 (one with
DB2/2 2.1.1), Visual Age Cobol 2.0, the book "Object REXX for OS/2 Warp",
the book "OS/2 2.1 Workplace shell programming", and Borland C++ 1.5,

On comp.os.os2.marketplace, there are various versions of OS/2 for sale and
ChipChat Wireless Communicator.

Those of you looking to sell your OS/2 related stuff, I strongly recommend
you put it on eBay or Yahoo! Auctions and post an announcement on
comp.os.os2.marketplace. If you include the word "OS/2" in the title of your
description, I'll see it and include it in the next report.

If you're looking for OS/2 items on eBay, search on the phrase ("OS/2",OS2),
including the parentheses.
