The next meeting of the Southern California OS/2 User Group (SCOUG)
will be next Saturday, August 21, at 9:00 AM PDT, at the IBM offices
located in Plaza Tower, 600 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa, on the 2nd floor.

Netscape 4.61 & CD-ROM burning software

The newest version of Netscape should be released for OS/2 soon.
We'll take a special look at the new Netscape 4.61 preview.
WARNING: This is not your father's Netscape!

The new Netscape not only provides web browsing capabilities
and several other features, but in fact, now does a number of
things quite well! Vice President Paul Wirtz will walk us
through all of the new modules of Version 4.61. In addition to
the traditional Netscape Navigator, we'll explore the features
of Composer, the news reader, and Collabra components. Attend
and you'll likely find out which utilities or applications you
can now throw away.

Also at the meeting Programming SIG leader Rollin White will
give an overview of the software that's available for burning
your own CD-ROMs on OS/2.

After the presentations we'll have Q&A to get your computer problems resolved.
Then a raffle and the Saturday SIG meetings:

General Interest Group - will look Warp Enhancer, a Workplace
Shell extender; Enviro, a PC hardware monitoring tool, and some
of the SMP features of Warp Server for e-Business.

Programming SIG - will examine Workplace Shell programming.

Afterwards: No-host lunch and friendly chat at TGI Fridays'
across the street or another local restaurant.

Internet SIG chats: They happen several times each week. Join
them! For further info, go to http://www.scoug.com/chat/index.html.

Monday, August 23, 7 PM PDT meetings at Heritage Christian High
School in Anaheim:

At the OS/2 Help Desk, volunteers will give you hands-on
assistance solving your hardware and software problems.

This month's Networking SIG activities will be centered around
preparing for Warp Expo West's Server Madness. They will
complete the SCOUG server's upgrade to Warp Server for e-Business
GA-level code, complete the WiseManager client support and
insure that the Java-based raffle entry program works across the
network from multiple sign-in stations. They will also set up
ZD Net's server and Web server benchmarking programs they hope
to demonstrate at Warp Expo West. There is a lot to do, so plan
to come early and stay late!

Thursday, August 26, 7 PM PDT meeting at Heritage Christian High
School:

Join the Sundial SIG for a great hands-on learning experience
with DBExpert. They'll continue to re-work their address book
project. For more information about the Sundial SIG, contact
SIG leader Sheridan George at sheridan@scoug.com.

For the August 23rd and August 26th meetings:

The Heritage Christian High School in Anaheim is at 2530 W. La Palma Ave.
It is on the south side of La Palma Ave. (about 200 ft. E of Magnolia) on the
property of Grace Baptist Church. There is a 2-story office building close to
La Palma Ave. with the address of 2528 up near the roof. Turn in (south) there.
