CDS to Demo new Back Again/2000! Computer Data Strategies' Brent Bowlby will be on hand to show to SCOUG the newly-released Back Again/2000, the successor to their popular Back Again/2 line of products. Back Again/2000 is the newest OS/2 data protection application and continues CDS' committment to the OS/2 Warp and Warp Server platforms. Designed to be easy to use and an easy transition from Back Again/2, Back Again/2000 is an all-new application with many advanced features. For those of you who weren't lucky enough to see Brent's presentation last year at SCOUG, descriptions of his presentation varied from "phenominal" to "outstanding" to "excellent". We expect a full house at Brent's presentation, so come early for a good seat. Meanwhile, for those of you thirsting for more information on Back Again/2000 prior to the meeting, visit the CDS website at: http://www.cds-inc.com/prodinfo/ba2000.html Two SIGs meet after the general meeting on Saturday: Programming SIG: Steven Levine will lead the group, looking at Y2K problems which actually occurred after the century changed, what management and design errors might have led to these problems not being corrected beforehand, and other global computer problems similar to Y2K that programmers may soon be called on to resolve. General Interest Group: The topic will be a Y2K Redux. They'll cover problems anyone is having with the hardware, operating system, or specific programs under OS/2. They'll also set up the SIG meeting schedule/topics for the rest of the year. Afterwards: No-host lunch and friendly chat at TGI Friday's across the street or another local restaurant. Internet SIG chats happen several times each week. Join them! (For further info, go to http://www.scoug.com/chat/index.html). Monday, January 17, 7 PM PST meetings: The OS/2 Help Desk will have volunteers giving you hands-on assistance solving your hardware and software problems. The Networking SIG will continue setting up a new network. Come help and find out what it all takes. (For further information, go to http://www.scoug.com/netsig.html) Thursday, January 20, 7 PM PST meetings: The Sundial SIG will be looking at the Clearlook word processor, specifically how it's used to produce SCOUG's monthly newsletter, OS/2 For You. They'll work with templates, graphics, varied width columns, fixed size text areas, footers, and more to create a polished newsletter. When, where, and how to get there: SCOUG will be meeting on Saturday, January 15, at 9:00 AM (PST) at the IBM offices located in Plaza Tower, 600 Anton Bl., Costa Mesa, CA, on the 2nd floor. From I-405, exit onto Bristol northbound (one exit NW of the I-405/Hwy 55 interchange). Turn right on Anton Blvd (the first signal north of I-405). Go east 2 signals and turn right (you will see a TGI Fridays' on your right, where our after-meeting lunch will be at). Park in the multi-level garage behind TGI Fridays' across Anton Bl. from IBM; the open-air lot on a diagonal from IBM may be unavailable due to construction. For the OS/2 Help Desk and Networking SIG on January 17, and the Sundial SIG on January 20: The Eastside Christian School, Heritage Campus, is at 2530 W. La Palma Ave. in Anaheim. It is on the south side of La Palma Ave. (about 200 ft. E of Magnolia) on the property of Grace Baptist Church. There is a 2-story office building close to La Palma Ave. with the address of 2528 up near the roof. Turn in (south) there. Drive all the way to the back and park along the chain-link fence. NOTE: There is a lot of freeway construction north of the school on I-5 and the 91 freeways; some on/off ramps may be closed and/or have detours. Check the SCOUG web site for updates, and leave yourself plenty of time to find our SIG meeting location. Further information (including driving directions) can be found on the SCOUG web site at http://www.scoug.com. The driving directions (http://www.scoug.com/directions.html) also include maps for the general meeting and the Help Desk/Networking SIG that you can print off as needed.
