F/X Communications announced today the second release of the Pluto
IKE (Internet Key Exchange) Server for OS/2.

The Pluto IKE Server for OS/2 is an extended and managed port of
Pluto 1.1, found in the Linux FreeS/WAN IPSec implementation. Pluto
is released with source code under the GNU General Public License -
free of charge.

Pluto runs as a server and implements the IKE protocol (RFC 2409). It
verifies identifies, chooses security policies, and negotiates keys
for IPSec (RFC 2401) implementations.

IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) is an Internet standard for
interconnected, secure networking devices and the predominant
technology in Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

New features in this OS/2 version:

* New support for 1DES strengthens the IPSec compatibility and
provides a significant speed advantage over the safer 3DES
encryption.

* Aggressive mode ISAKMP negotiation provides compatibility with
implementations that rely on extended authentication, such as user
accounts, certificates or soft tokens. This is an area of continued
testing - please e-mail support@fx.dk for the latest developments.

* Extended Road Warrior support for remote branch offices that has
the IPSec gateway on a dynamic IP address. Previously Road Warriors
were defined to be individual users.

* Fixed a problem with TCP/IP 4.1 and aliases.

Successfully tested with these 3rd party IPSec implementations:

   1.F-Secure VPN+ 4.2 for Windows
2.PGPnet 6.5.2a IPSEC Client from Network Associates

The IPSec Plugin is released as part of the InJoy Dialer (dial-out),
InJoy Connect" (dial-in) and the InJoy Firewall. The Plugin enables
these products to serve as an IPSec gateway, an IPSec server or as a
simple VPN Client.

The release of an IKE Server and IPSec support for OS/2 is exciting
news for enterprises seeking to provide secure connectivity for OS/2
branch offices, business partners, and travelling employees as well
as data communications in the local area networks (intranet
security).

Notice version 1.1 of Pluto is NOT compatible with previous versions
of the InJoy IPSec plugin. A new Plugin will be released shortly.
