PMView 2000: The ultimate in image viewing PMView 2.0 is now PMView 2000! See http://www.pmview.com/ for details ********************************************************************* Source: Bob St.John (BStJohn@Serenity-Systems.com) Moderator: Trevor Smith (trevor@haligonian.com) ------------------------------------------------------- "I pushed one button and deployed a network in 29 seconds per node. It was worth my trip to Atlanta to see the vision of network computing delivered by Serenity Systems' technology based on IBM's OS/2."- Peter Coffee in PCWeek, http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/stories/columns/0,4351,2377721,00.html On March 9, PC users can come to NYC and see what excited Peter Coffee and had members of the audience "falling out of their chairs" at an earlier SCOUG meeting, http://www.scoug.com/presentations/serenity9903.html. The presentation in NYC will go further than any public demonstration, yet! Kim Cheung, Excecutive Director of Serenity Systems, will be previewing Release 2.0 of WiseManager, the most powerful tool in the computing industry for building and managing networks. For the first time there will be a public demonstration of the e.ComStation, a server managed, remote boot client based on Warp Server for e-business. While this is extremely significant, so is the ability to remote boot and manage Win9X, Win3.1, and DOS workstations. Part of the planned and exclusive cross platform support is the ability to provide Win9X diskless RPL workstations ... as opposed to an implementation which requires starting with an installed Windows fat client PC. WiseManager blazes through the tasks associated with building a network, which so impressed Peter Coffee. But consultants and LAN Administrators will be amazed at the features of WiseManager which support operational tasks. For example, drag an application's icon and drop it onto a folder of users. That application is now part of desktop for that department, or a single user. Slick enough, but now comes the "grunt task" of updating Warp Server's Access Control List ... but wait ... this is WiseManager! WiseManager automatically updates ACLs when that icon was dopped the onto that folder of users. This is almost too easy! With planned support for Windows workstations, WiseManager makes the best case available for using Windows workstations, better than fat clients, better than Windows Based Terminals, better than Citrix. And you don't even need OS/2 workstations on the network ... but, if you have OS/2 workstations ... they will dazzle. Kim Cheung is also a principal with TouchVoice Corp, a leading CTI vendor with OS/2 based products. Here, OS/2 shines because of its reliability, responsiveness and low costs. The WiseTalker products, available through Serenity Systems, are commercial products without equal in the industry. The REXX support in WiseTalker products makes the ability to customize the system so strong ... that the answer to every question is, "Yes. We can do that." Kim will discuss this business opportunity, for both users and consultants. Watch for announcements from Serenity Systems to support channel partners internested in the revenues available with auto-attendant voicemail and WiseTalker Database Server with IBM DB2 6.1. Plan on making the trip to the March 9 UG meeting, 6:30 PM, IBM building at 590 Madison Ave. If you can't get there, plan on contacting Serenity Systems at www.serenity-systems.com ... everyone managing a workstations should have an evaluation copy of WiseManager in their hands. Serenity Systems will be making an announcement shortly regarding an update to the Evaluation Kit program. ------------------------------------------------------- To subscribe, unsubscribe, or for more information on WarpCast, visit: http://www.warpcast.com/ -------------------------------------------------------
