A JVM is the technology that lies between the application and the operating system to give Java its cross-platform capabilities. Offerings for Windows, Linux, AIX, and OS/390 will be available in June, followed shortly after with versions for OS/400 and OS/2. Finally, the "OS/2 Porting Status" page at IBM Hursley Labs is updated now. It shows the OS/2 preview version of Java2 1.3 is due June 30, and the GA is due Sept. 30.
