           *** MAY FEATURE PRESENTATIONS ***
-- MEMBERS USEFUL APPLICATIONS & NEW STUFF --

The May meeting of the Philadelphia OS/2 SIG will be devoted to
presentations by several members of useful OS/2 applications and
hints, plus discussion of topics of current interest.

Ben Bowers will present an introduction and overview of BeOS, a
recent operating system arrival which has aroused high interest
around the world. It is now widely (and freely) available for
evaluation in the form of BeOS Personal Edition. 5 million copies are
being distributed with magazines this year all across Europe.

Barry Mann will discuss File Format Conversion Tips, with emphasis on
the use of the OS/2 EPM text processor. He will also touch on the use
of AWK and REXX for text processing purposes.

Larry Lavins will report on the current status of FixPak-13 and the
problems encountered by many OS/2 users.

Larry will also review the progress to date of his new computer
build, what remains to be done and costs. Several options haven't yet
been chosen. Members will be asked for comments/suggestions.

Other agenda items include SIG business matters, OS/2 news, new
software releases, Q&A session, software raffle, etc. An OS/2 system
will be on hand for demos of OS/2, Java, Internet, etc., as time
permits. Free light refreshments will also be available.

Mark the date and time: Wednesday, May 24th, at 7:00pm, to hear about
all the new and exciting developments, or if you have questions about
OS/2 Warp and Java. OS/2 SIG meetings are open and free for OS/2
users, their guests and all others interested in learning about OS/2
and associated Java technology.
