Recently we posted a message from the Dutch OS/2 user group reporting
some eComStation test results. While WarpCast is not actually a
discussion list, we felt it was only fair to allow the eComStation
developers a chance to comment. Kim Cheung had the following to say:

=======

I like add some comments to the eComStation test message posted by
  the Dutch user group:

  > 1 Despite of choosing to install the DaniS506 driver during the
  > install procedure of eCS, still the IBM1S506 driver was installed
  > finally. We couldn't find anywere on harddisk the Dani drivers,
  > e.g. DaniS506.ADD and DaniAtapi.FLT.

This was done intentionally for the preview. The Dani drivers are
used for the installation phase only.

Note that Disk #2 wasn't "quite" in its final form. We had to set
a cut-off date or else the preview will be further delayed.

  > 2 Machine hangs at reboot after using Wisemachine for the first
  > time at the end of the eCS install. After an other CAD the
  > machine runs OK.

Documented in the file known.issues. This is a problem with the
Conv Pak build that we are using. IBM is aware of this and has been
  looking into it.

  > 3 Your password and userid for the LAN were not saved during the

This didn't happen to me. I will verify it and report to IBM if
  need be.

I still want to "recommend" installing it by itself. It IS a
  preview version.

I will verifty it and report to IBM if need be.

  >6 It's great to see that JAVA 1.3 installed automatically!

Correction: as an option. There is a box that pops up and ask you
if you want 1.3 or not.

Can't say it enough times. When you get your eCS preview, be sure
to read the files known.issues, readme.txt, readme.os2, and
uselvm.inf. Make sure you have a good understanding of LVM before
starting. These files are also available at
  http://www.touchvoicecorp.com/ecsreadme.html.

  > 8 During installation you can choose to install the Journaling
filesystem. It was promised and its there for free!!!

  Yes, you have a choice!!!
