I have uploaded a port of the Unix RM utility to Hobbes:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/rm.zip
It will later reside at:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/file/rm.zip
This version was compiled for OS/2 from a C version originally written for MSDOS
and the C source is included.
RM is a command line file and directory removal program. It will remove subdirectories
and files including those that are marked as read-only and hidden. The subdirectories
do not need to be empty.
The file is also available on my web site.

A recent release of ARJ/2 v 2.70 has been uploaded onto Hobbes:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/arj2_270.exe
(International version),
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/arj2r270.exe
(Russian localized version)
Later these files will be moved to:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu//pub/os2/util/archiver/
Anyone wishing to assist with further localization of ARJ/2 on non-profit basis
may contact me via e-mail. French and German translations are partially complete,
based on job previously done by Frederic Taes and Douglas Dunkel, respectively.
The language resources consist of about 550 messages and the README file.
For those interested, I've had a change of ISP, so my web pages have had to change
URLs. The URL base has changed from http://www.msen.com/~rpapo to:

The specific pages remain the same and are:

A Request for feedback from the author of The Graham Utilities for OS/2:
Anyone who is interested in a LARGE FILE enabled version of my utilities please
contact me at:
A large file enabled version of my utilities would enable those of you who have
Warp Server for e-Business (WSeB) and are using the JFS file system (and obviously
have large files) to work with large files. Large files are files >2.1Gb in size.
OS/2's FAT, HPFS and HPFS386 (as well as NT's NTFS) can only handle files <=2.1Gb.
As WSeB stands today, if you open a file that is >2.1Gb with a program that is
not large file enabled, the result is a kernel trap (aka - black screen of death).
I would like to test interest for such a version of my utilities. If sufficient
demand exists, then I would consider producing a new version of my utilities. If
such a version should ever see the light of day, if would be a CD-ROM Only version,
with the manual only available in on-line format (as is presently available).

WarpStock isn't "just another show". It's more like summer camp where
you come home all "fired up" and ready to change the world. I must admit
I wasn't down in the dumps to start with but WarpStock still made a difference in
my outlook. Since that time things may have seemed like they were slow from the
outside looking in but we have been busy... pouring over programs and code trying
to tie the knot on a big bag of goodies.
At WarpStock we sold a suite of programs ostensibly called the "PillarSoft
Suite" for $100. Since then, we have added to the lineup, built a new installer
and dropped the price by a whole buck! Well... the introductory special is a buck
cheaper anyways. :-)
PILLARSOFT SUITE OVERVIEW
The PillarSoft Suite is a great collection of software and utilities specifically
for the OS/2 family of operating systems. The suite will make you more productive
immediately with a great archiver, two editors, a secure deletion program, paint
program, an easy to use desktop backup program and much more.
There are 12 products available as part of the PillarSoft Suite.
Some of these applications were not originally part of the suite and are not
available separately. They have been bundled to bring added value to the Suite and
are available to the previous purchasers of the suite at no additional cost. (A
fitting "thank you" to previous purchasers?)
Realizing that not everyone will want or need every application in the suite,
it is priced it in such a way that if even half of the programs are desirable, the
suite should be worth it's price. Separately the programs would weigh in at approximately
$248. We hope you will give it a try and decide if the programs fit your needs.
Note: Data Shield is not shareware and is only available with the registered
version of the PillarSoft Suite. It is the only program in the package that will
not work as a demo. It is included in the archive so it will be available immediately
to newly registered users. The remainder of the applications may be tested and used
in the same way any shareware application is used.

delineating the latest realignment of IBM, including the OS/2 division.
Here are a couple qoutes:
"IBM has broken up its Network Computing Software Division and reassigned the various NCSD business units. Simultaneously, IBM established a new organization in the Software Group Solutions and Strategy unit, called Solutions and Integration."
and
"As part of the reorganization, OS/2 and Workspace On-Demand, and their associated service organizations, are transferred to the Software Group Solutions and Strategy unit, under OS/2 veteran Soyring's responsibility."

Many years ago I authored an FTP client called SFTP. It was a Visual Rexx product
that I distributed as freeware.
I have been working slowly for about three years on a new ftp client. I call
it Dragen FTP. "Drag" "En" for "Drag" enabled".
Dragen consists of a C core that handles FTP and a visual rexx front end. Dragen
is much more flexible and powerful than sftp. I also believe that it has a unique
feature set that will offer a useful contribution to OS/2 computing. The core FTP
module is about three years old and very stable. The rexx interface is pretty clean.
I still have documentation and some polishing to do.
I intend to distribute the product as as shareware, or "trustware."
There are two versions that I need to test. The shareware implementation is fully
enabled, but will involve a fairly painless user permission request to my FTP server.
The pay version doesn't require this.
Anyhow, I am about to the point of getting it out for some limited testing. I
need some people to check out both versions and give me their thoughts. I would
offer a license in consideration for your assistance.
As I mentioned above, this will be a limited test period, since I have been using
the product myself for about six months. So, I am looking for a few good people
to help.
If you would like to apply to be a Dragen FTP tester. Please, send email to me
at: cotroneo@stny.rr.com
Please include a brief statement about your experience with os/2:
1) How long you have been using os/2 (I would like to get a mix of experience).
2) How often you use FTP and the products you currently use for FTP.
3) Are you connected with any commercial or shareware software businesses or
enterprises?
That's about it. Thanks.
