MySQL 4.0.18 for OS/2 is now available for public download:

The MySQL database server is the world's most widely used open source
database. Its ingenious software architecture makes it extremely fast and
easy to customize. MySQL is available for free under the GNU General
Public Licence (GPL). MySQL is provided by MySQL AB.

NOTE this code has been previously released for private test to mysql-os2
members: if you are already running that code, you don't need to upgrade.
If you upgrade from 3.x, please read the manual for table updates.

New features

Named pipes.
Data replication.
Binaries can be moved everywhere.
InnoDB database engine is included.
Enabled usage of high memory arena for memory allocation.
Binaries are compiled for Pentium processor (or higher), code is tuned
for Pentium III
processors (or higher).

PMJobWorks is a batch tool for OS/2 PM.

Features:
- process files one after another with user-defined actions in batch mode
(e.g. conversions, merging etc.)
- drag and drop enabled interface
- Rexx enabled
- seek files and scan for strings (you can use it as a replacement for
PMSEEK)
- support for EPM, NEPM, MED and other editors to show search results
- file list view similar to WPS folders

Note to users of previous PMJobWorks versions (v0.5 and older): This is a
complete rewrite of the old tool, and it is not compatible with older job
files, but it is more stable and has a lot of improvments. Enjoy it.

PMJobWorks is free for nonprofit or home use. If you want to use this
tool in a commercial environment contact us via email to get informations
how to purchase a valid license.

Anyway, PMJobWorks is not crippled in any way and it is open source. Get

Hi all,

I just made unofficial builds of 1.8a5 available from my builds page (see
sig), both as installer and as ZIP file. As usual, the C-Library version
0.5.1 from Innotek is needed.

I have made a few modifications over Mike's official build. These four
should not cause any incompatibilities:
0. Packed the executables with lxLite
1. Enabled MNG/JNG graphic formats (type MNG_BUILD_FULL_MNG, bug 18574)
2. Horizontal Scrollwheel to work by default (bug 231718)
3. Removed extra menu item for IE users (bug 255611)
4. Removed debug output of calendar (bug 271790)

The next three will cause problems with e.g. Language Packs. I learned a
bit from the last releases and therefore they are not part of the main
download, I put them in an extra ZIP file (test-mozilla-os2-1.8a5.zip)
instead:
4. Enable F1 to call the help contents (extra patch from bug 88739)
5. Slightly reorganize the print dialog, now uses checkbox instead of
radio buttons (bug 263312). Questions:
+ How bothered are you by the removal of the filename field?
+ How many are printing in batches and would like the filename to
be remembered after each print operation?
6. Added GUI options for horizontal mouse scrollwheel (bug 143038). I
have tested that this works with the AMouse driver version 2.50.

under Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Mouse Wheel.
Especially for the last two "testing" features I would like some feedback
( http://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.public.mozilla.os2 or to "mozilla
at weilbacher.org")!

Btw, as for the official build the MailNews drag-and-drop crash is still
there, Davide's NSPR fix for enigmail is included (but untested).

Thunderbird. The program has been modified to reflect that and to display
file names as they are being converted so the user knows its progress:]

PMM2MOZ is a program to convert PMMail *.msg files to Mozilla /
Thunderbird format. The corrected program has just been uploaded to Hobbes
and is still in /pub/incoming, but is expected to move to
/pub/os2/apps/internet/mail/reader. Search for it in /pub/incoming or

I've received information that the program requires Classic REXX, so if
you use Object REXX and it does not run, switch to Classic REXX and then

This laser printer has both USB and parallel ports. (You can add a
network or wireless adapter at relatively low additional cost, since those
are plentiful.) It also has lots of memory and built-in Postscript and
PCL support, so it'll work well with eComStation. (Try the HP LaserJet 4
Duplex driver if you can't find a better match. That should work fine for
600 dpi duplex printing with this printer.)

As always, check the cost of consumables ahead of time.

Note:
There is a design change in the Linux 2.6 kernel for disk-translation that
affects many disk-tools including DFSee. The effect is that the geometry
used will be DIFFERENT from what the BIOS uses. Using disk-tools
(including Suse 9.1 and Fedore core-2 install!) that are not aware of
these changes may lead to problems on multi-boot systems. (Windows not
booting, OS/2 or eCS loosing LVM info)

Creating partitions using DFSee, then PSAVE before installing Linux allows
you to get Linux installed, and a PRESTORE after installation will make
the other operating systems happy again ...

This version has fixed the problem I had with the previous version of not
allowing selection of a different profile. From the revision history for
1.10 in the documentation:

added feature to call a script on disconnect and connect events

added IP address range conflict detection for cases, where the TCP/IP

connection profiles can now be copied

Wireless LAN Monitor now appends the default extension *.wlp to the names
of the files, to which connection profiles are exported, if no filename
extension has been specified. In order to store to a file without a
filename extension, specify a dot at the end of the filename.

adds Wireless LAN driver title to tooltip text if no card is detected

Fixed:

in order to replace the XCenter Widget DLL it is now sufficient to close
all XCenter instances. Before, it was required to restart the Workplace
Shell.

encryption data is now being sent to the Wireless LAN driver only if it
reported to support encryption. If it was sent anyway before, this would
leave the Wireless LAN Monitor in an indefinite state

switching between Wireless LAN drivers will now properly work

fixed undo error on the properties page

when configuring the TCP/IP interface of the Wireless LAN device, the ARP
cache will now be flushed

the connection profile selection dialog does not anymore allow deletion
of the currently active connection profile

tooltip text will not longer be modified if mouse pointer is not over
widget

handling of DHCP configuration and release of DHCP lease reworked and
optimized

storage of properties data redesigned, preventing incompatibilities
between future versions

Wireless LAN Monitor will now also load status strings in other language
than english

reworked notificaton beeps on events when getting in range or out of
range

Have you ever wondered why checkini reports "folder position for
non-folder object"? Have you ever wondered what all those entries under
PM_Workplace:FolderPos were for? FPos answers these questions. Once you
know what theu do, you'll probably want to delete most of them. Using
FPos to clean up this entry can reduce the size of your os2.ini quite
considerably.

Iconomize
---------
This unique tool lets you eliminate the single largest source of bloat in
os2.ini: duplicate icon data. Running Iconomize just once can reduce the
size of your os2.ini anywhere from 10% to 25%. v0.60 has been completely
rewritten. It now displays all objects and their icons in an
easier-to-use listing format. It also offers new features, including the
abilitity to save an object's custom icon to file.

GCC is a distribution of the GNU C/C++ compiler suite and associated
utilities for the IBM OS/2 platform.

The ReleaseNote.os2 for this release states:

job control. They'll show up soon.

o Doesn't evaluate trailing slash in paths as directory
