What is the Personal Edition?
-----------------------------
SciTech Software, Inc. is proud to announce the availability of our new
web site for dynamically generating Personal Edition versions of SciTech
SNAP Graphics. Personal Editions are licensed for non-commercial use, and
are locked down to a single graphics chipset as part of the dynamic
building process on the web site.
To use the Personal Edition log into the new web site (URL listed below)
and register an account. Once you have an account listed, you can select
your Operating System (presently Linux and OS/2 are supported), your
graphics card manufacturer and your graphics chipset. Once you have
validated your account via email, you can then log in and start
generating custom builds of SciTech SNAP Graphics.
Note that the Personal Edition versions of SciTech SNAP Graphics have no
timeout period, but are not licensed for commercial use. Commercial users
should continue to use the full version available for download from our
web site.
Where can I download it?

In order to download the personal edition of SciTech SNAP Graphics for
OS/2, you must sign up and create an account on our web site using the
following URL:

For the duration of the beta period this web site is password protected,
so you will need to use the following userid and password to gain access
to the site:

The April issue of OS/2 e-zine may be delayed, since we don't have quite

The May issue may also be off schedule, as I will be moving 1500km away to

ExpEmu version 1.00 has been released (4/6/2004). This Explorer "Emulator"
works as a pass-thru program that redirects EXPLORER.EXE calls to
MOZILLA.EXE, so that Java programs which rely on the existence of
explorer.exe will work in OS/2.

FLT that solves that limit. New limit is 2 Terrabytes :)
Tested with external SCSI raid with ~570 GB capacity.
"Currently OS/2 DASD subsystem doesn't support disks with capacity more
than 502 Gb. DaniS506.ADD, the great driver by Daniela Engert
( http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=danis506), may be used for
huge IDE/ATA drives to avoid 502 Gb size limitation. But there is no
solution for large SCSI RAID devices.
up2TB.flt driver allows to use in OS/2 hard disks of any types with
capacity up to 2 Terabytes (actually up to 2032 Gb). This is not real disk
controller driver, but so-called filter driver, that works with native
hardware .ADD driver. up2TB.flt simply alters CHS disk geometry
information passed to system (actually to OS2DASD.DMD) so the whole disk
capacity may be successfully used in OS/2.
Currently only non-removable HDDs are supported."

Christian Hennecke has translated NewView's online help to German. NewView
is a replacement viewer for OS/2 online help documents with many
extensions to the standard view.exe.
The translated document is made available as a separate package for now,
as Aaron Lawrence won't be able to work on NewView over the following
weeks, but will be integrated into the main package later.

Version 2.70 of lSwitcher has finally been released. You can download it

lSwitcher is a task switcher for OS/2 and eCS. The program adds new
features to Presentation Manager Alt-Tab switcher, extends the Alt-Tab
switching capability to OS/2 and DOS full-screen sessions, and adds a
convenient and feature-rich "Taskbar" to PM Desktop. The package also
includes an XWorkplace XCenter widget with the similar functionality.
CHANGES
=======

- New look!
- Second consecutive switching to Desktop restores all windows to the
states they had before they were minimized or hidden by switching to
Desktop.
- Holding Shift or Ctrl key while clicking on Desktop button in the task

standard IDENT user identification protocol. Identd operates by looking
