Overview:
Service will be extended until January 31, 2001, for IBM LAN Network Manager for
OS/2, Version 2.
The "Next Generation" of the DreckBak Disk Backup Utility for OS/2
has been released today. Improved installation routine that creates all directories
and program objects, as well as a URL object to the support page. New format for
the program reduces the amount of editing to just a few lines, all grouped together.
DreckBak will back up to any device that is given a DRIVE LETTER by OS/2. Any drive(s)
or directories can be backed up in an automated fashion without the expense of special
hardware. Ideal for removable media. May also be interfaced to software that can
write to your Tape drive or CD-Rom burner. THERE IS NOW NO REASON NOT TO HAVE A
BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM! Everything you need in one package with full WEB and Email
support.
See why WarpCity says "This one is a keeper."
Available at Hobbes and http://weismer.virtualave.net/DreckBak.html
Another Stellar Frontier update, 0.94.7, is out (4/15/99):

It appears to me there are lots of people who want to buy OS/2 software and books
and OS/2-compatible hardware, but don't know where to find it or don't want to pay
full price. I think most of these people don't know about eBay.
eBay (http://www.ebay.com) is an online auction
web site. They have tons of stuff for sale there, and the prices are usually very
low, especially for not-so-popular items like anything OS/2-related. To see what
OS/2-related products are available, go to http://pages.ebay.com/aw/search.html,
type in "os/2" in the "Title Search" section and click on "Search".
You can also select "Order by Ending Date descending" to see what's new,
and you can select "Search Title AND Description" to get a much larger
list of anything that might be related to OS/2.
Some items I've seen recently:
OS/2 Warp Server Advanced for $100
OS/2 Warp 3 for $5
OS/2 Warp 4 for $50
Watcom VX-REXX for $10
A rare OS/2 video from IBM for $10.
If you want to connect from StarOffice 5 to MySQL and have problems, you may
use the JDBC-driver at http://pages.vossnet.de/jogi2/office/mysql.htm
Description in English and German.
Ok folks, the warpseeme/2 project finally got a home site, and it can be reached
through:
More information available soon, emails and discussion groups will be available
for further contact / information. Meanwhile just be patient and keep using the
old email in case you can help by somehow.
Cramon Utilities, makers of B.U.G.S. 98 a fast paced arcade game for OS/2 and
Windows, today released the first version of its new WindowControls.
WindowControls is the tool for every OS/2 users which has either moved to Windows
or who has to use Windows on occations and misses the OS/2 WorkplaceShell features.
This isn't the object oriented desktop for Windows (yet ;), but rather a collection
of small OS/2 specific desktop features which makes life under Windows easier. And
best of all, WindowControls is freeware!
The first alpha (version 0.10) only has one feature, but a lot of other features
are in the works. In version 0.10 it's possible to use the standard OS/2 Window
hotkeys for "restoring, minimizing and maximizing".
If this sounds interesting to you go check out the latests version on http://www.cramon.dk
Serenity Systems is announcing availability of an evaluation kit for their WiseManager
product. This product is central to Serenity Systems' business model of managing
desktop computers as a fee service. However, the product has applicability for anyone
managing PCs, utilizing features which address user and application support, operational
support and software deployment of networked PCs. WiseManager was extremely well
received when demonstrated at the last meeting of the Southern California OS/2 User
Group (http://www.scoug.com/lastmeeting.html).
More information regarding WiseManager, Managed Clients, and Serenity Systems
is available at http://www.serenity-systems.com.
Contact is Bob St.John, BStJohn@Serenity-Systems.com
or 888 299-6483, ext 101. Serenity Systems is preparing to market several new OS/2
applications this summer, both vertical and general business. In line with this,
Bob St.John would like to talk to consultants, service oriented VARs, and fee service
consultants with OS/2 and Warp Server skills about revenue opportunities.

I'm happy to announce that the OS/2 information server OS2.org and OS/2 Netlabs
will work together in the future. OS/2 Netlabs is growing every day, because of
this it is not anymore possible to maintain it alone.
Some enduser pages of OS/2 Netlabs projects will be available at os2.org, all
the developer stuff and most of the projects will still be available at OS/2 Netlabs.
We have several new stuff which will be available in the future, for example
an enhanced OS/2 database where you can search OS/2 applications (Don K. Eitner
will move his data to our new server, currently it is available at http://www.tstonramp.com/~freiheit/os2apps.shtml).
I actually work on the new design of OS/2 Netlabs, I hope to find some time to
finish it soon. The webpages are not really up to date actually, but this is mainly
because we have some new great projects (Win32-OS/2, Everblue...)
I'm sure our efforts will be worth the work!
Thanks for your support

I've just uploaded a refreshed version of my addon DLL for WatchCat 2.1 to Hobbes.
It provides an interface between WatchCat and the nice-package by Sharon Dagan.
The DLL enables priority-changing of running processes from within WatchCat,
it is compatible with the "kill -9" addon DLL as long as you don't change
the names :)
This problem is still valid:
You'd better _NOT_ start WatchCat from config.sys or startup.cmd when using this
DLL but from the startupfolder of PM by a cmd-file (e.g. "detach e:\tools\system\watchcat.exe
or the like). I'm still working on the problem ;)
Right now you can find it here:
ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/wnice.zip
Later it should be here:
ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/system/wnice.zip
The new release of Minta is available now! Minta is a very powerful MP3 tagging,

http://www.informatik.uni-trier.de/CIP/thielen/minta/
