I'd like to announce the release of ServerConfig/2 version 0.9

ServerConfig/2 is a PM configuration util for Apache and the InetPowerServer/2.

It also allows you to remote configure any unix/linux Apache. It includes a daemon that can be compiled under any gcc and thus allows ServerConfig/2 to receive and save configurations remotely, all from OS/2 :)

IPS is now fully supported. Services and users can be changed via individual containers per service/user. Also comments and extra lines are not lost.

Now with new warp4-look.

Every Monday and Thursday, I'll be reporting on OS/2-related items for sale on http://www.ebay.com and the comp.os.os2.marketplace newsgroup. Even if you're not thinking about buying anything OS/2 related, you might find something that catches your interested. Just search with the keyword "OS/2" and you'll find everything.

As always, there are copies of OS/2 2.x, Warp 3, and Warp 4 available for sale. These items make great gifts for your Windows-using friends!

I think I've created a monster. The number of OS/2-related items for sale on eBay has exploded. I can't keep up with all of them, so I'll restrict myself to the more interesting items

For programmers, there are four copies of Borland C++ 1.5 available. Someone's also selling a collection of books including "Writing VX/REXX programs" and "Teach Yourself REXX in 21 Days". Both of these are rare finds.

For the OS/2 gamer, someone is selling Galactic Civilizations 2 and the IBM OS/2 Warp Family FunPak.

There is also a training course (videos and workbooks) on OS/2 2.0. And I forgot to mention last time that someone was selling a 3.5" diskette box with OS/2 logos on it, as well as an OS/2 label/hat pin. Both are very cool collectibles.

Speaking of collectibles, you'll also find Microsoft Word for OS/2. It's supposedly just like Word for Windows 2.0.

On comp.os.os2.marketplace, you'll find Power Translator Pro Spanish.

Those of you looking to sell your OS/2 related stuff, I strongly recommend you put it on eBay and post an announcement on comp.os.os2.marketplace. If you include the word "OS/2" in the title of your description, I'll see it and include it in the next report.

CAD/Off is a small utility that disables the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys for rebooting and enables them again after system shutdown allowing to reboot the system then. CAD/Off is freeware.

The only difference to 1.00 is that I polished the sourcecode and included it in the distribution. As I have not written this program for me I have no intention to work on it any further, so if you are interested ...

Many will remember Soundstudio from Ceres Software.

The Programmer will release the Sourcecode if we find enough Programmers to take care of the code.

If you are interested, please contact me. soundstudio@buntspecht.de

[WarpCast Moderator's Note: Ceres SoundStudio was/is a hard disk recording program for OS/2 (and other platforms). Ceres Software has apparently orphaned this project, and all that remains is a 30 day demo.]

The SFX Installer has been released for general usage.

The SFX Installer offers the first one file archive/installation tool widely available on the OS/2 platform. It marries the installation tool for your software and it's own setup tools into one friendly package for point and click installation setups that are personalized for your software. SFX allows you to build an archive in standard or self-extracting format, with or without the installer.

There are no cryptic scripts to learn to write other than any setupstrings you need to place folders and icons on the desktop. The installation setup tool allows you to point and click a complete setup. When you are satisfied with how the archive should be setup you can save all the information and recall it when needed. SFX will save and retrieve as many setups as you have disk space for and will help the author of multiple programs to keep them organized. It can also be used as a general zip file distribution builder as well.

The SFX Installer includes several novel details for the software distributer including:

1) Dll and help file placement (and tracking) into existing LIBPATH and SET HELP directories so your user may avoid adding to these paths and also avoid rebooting before usage.

2) An uninstallation script is written at install time specific to the users installation that will, track all files your program has installed and remove any WPS objects created at installation time. This uninstall script can be modified if needed via a plugin.

3) Authors can make use of Plugin scripts to overcome any installation limitations that your installations need to perform. (examples included)

Although the installer is distributed as shareware, we invite freeware authors to use the installer free of charge as a small token of appreciation for their selfless work. Please read the license for more details.

The Netlabs page has been updated. There is a downloadable preview of the Shockwave Flash plugin for OS/2. From the README:

Flash/2 Plugin for Communicator/2

This is just a preview !!

the list of things that don't work is enormous so please don't bug me with that

1. It will surely crash your browser. (paid no attention to cleaning up yet)
2. Graphics are out of position due to wrong window handle.

place the npswf2.dll in your plugin directory and restart your browser. look at about:plugins to see if its installed, if so surf away !

The file is available from their homepage at:

Kyle Markley was nice enough to post how OS/2 users could utilize the Linux version of Sun's HotJava 3.0 browser under OS/2. I figured I'd use his advice and create a more "OS/2 Friendly" package. I just uploaded hjb30os2.zip to http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/ incoming directory. The proposed final destination is /pub/os2/apps/internet/www/browser/

Unzip the package preserving the directory structure and execute the HotJava.CMD REXX program to launch. You will need the JDK 1.1.6 or higher.

I discovered that there is OS/2 version of music recognition program.

This Program tries to convert musical piece to score. It converts WAVE file to MIDI file, which contains notes. A sophisticated algorithm is used to recognize notes. Implementing such an algorithm is a very difficult task, so this Program works rather imperfectly.
